Free-to-play multiplayer racer Boom Karts VR launches on Quest and supports cross-play with the mobile version.
Boom Karts, a free-to-play racing game originally released on iOS and Android, has received a VR edition from Finnish developer Zaibetsu Interactive. In this arcade racer, you use power-ups to avoid obstacles and traps, racing against friends and thwarting rivals along the way as you try to secure victory in the race. Now, the Quest 2, Pro, 3, and 3S are here.
Featuring ranked leagues and ranked matches, Boom Kart VR also comes with an adventure mode and quests. Cars and characters can be similarly customized by unlocking cosmetic items and additional upgrades. Compared to the mobile version, the VR version of Boom Karts includes a variety of new features, including playing in theater mode.
Game-specific friends lists are also available. There’s also a “Team” option available where you can see your group unlock rewards, upgrades, and new items to upgrade your cart. Meta Quest’s Touch controller supports one-handed and two-handed control schemes, similar to USB controllers.
Boom Karts is currently available on Quest, Android, and iOS.
