The cable news ratings for the week of July 6 are in, revealing where MS NOW, Fox News, and CNN stand against one another. And while Fox News continues to win the ratings battle, MS NOW was the only network to see gains in total viewership and key demo (adults 25-54) viewership in both primetime and total day numbers.
The increase was quite impressive for MS NOW, with the network seeing double digit increases for both total and key demo viewership during primetime.
MS NOW’s primetime average was 1.028 million total viewers and 94,000 viewers in the adults demo. This was up 11% and 19%, respectively, compared to the previous week. For total day, MS NOW averaged 606,000 total viewers and 59,000 demo viewers, a 2% and 4% increase, respectively, compared to the week prior.
With these numbers, MS NOW finished in second place for total primetime viewers and 15th place for key demo primetime viewers. For total day total viewers, MS NOW ranked second place, but finished in ninth for the demo for total day viewership for the week.
Meanwhile, Fox News hit double trouble with big decreases in viewership, averaging 2.109 million total viewers and 164,000 viewers in the key demo for primetime. These numbers were down 15% and 25%, respectively, from the week beginning June 29.
Fox News’ total day viewing average was 1.429 million total viewers and 127,000 key demo viewers. This put them down 12% in total viewers and down 17% in demo viewers compared to the previous week.
While Fox News remained at No. 1 for total primetime viewership and total day total viewership, the network landed in third place for primetime key demo viewership and second place for total day key demo viewership.
CNN also saw decreases across the board for the week of July 6. With an average of 582,000 total primetime viewers and average of 95,000 primetime viewers in the 25-54 demo, CNN was down 13% and 8%, respectively, compared to the prior week.

For total day viewership, CNN averaged 442,000 total viewers and 58,000 key demo viewers, which was down 4% and 3%, respectively, from the June 29 week. These numbers landed CNN in fifth place for total viewers and 14th place in key demo viewers during primetime, and fourth place in total viewers and 10th place in total key demo viewers for total day.
