If you’re reading GoNintendo, chances are somewhere along the way you became the owner of a Nintendo device. A Game Boy, a Super Nintendo, a Nintendo DS or Wii…the list goes on and on. At some point you got a piece of Nintendo hardware and it turned you into a dedicated fan. Shigeru Miyamoto would like to see that continue, but he envisions a world that goes one step further.
In an interview with Famitsu magazine, Miyamoto talked about his desire for even more people to interact with Nintendo’s offerings. Rather that some people getting into Nintendo games and others not even being aware of the company’s work, Miyamoto would like to see a situation where once children reach a specific age, their parents introduce them to the world of Nintendo.
“I am always saying that the company should ‘create reasons for people from all over the world to pick Nintendo.’ In Japan, when children start elementary school you buy them their own school bag. In the same way, I think it would be great if there was a selection to choose from like, ‘Now that you’re six, I’ve got you a Nintendo’, ‘Which Nintendo would make you the happiest?'”
