Popular crime thriller Mirzapur Season 2 has completed six years since its premiere on Amazon Prime Video on October 23, 2020. To celebrate the milestone, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment shared a special video revisiting the memorable characters, rivalries and intense moments that made the series a fan favourite.
One of India’s most popular crime thriller franchises, Mirzapur, has marked another milestone as its second season completes six years on October 23, 2026.
Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, the series became widely recognised for its gripping storytelling, powerful performances and memorable dialogues.
To mark the occasion, the production house shared a nostalgic video on social media, taking fans back to the world of Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit and Munna Tripathi.
Sharing a special video featuring memorable moments from the second season, Excel Entertainment wrote, “Yeh bhi theek hai. Celebrating #6YearsOfMirzapur2.”
The video revisits the characters and conflicts that defined the season, reminding viewers of the intense battle for power in Mirzapur.
The phrase “Yeh bhi theek hai” has become one of the series’ most recognisable dialogues, continuing to feature in memes and conversations among fans.
Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, Mirzapur Season 2 premiered on October 23, 2020, following the success of its first season in 2018.
The second instalment continued the story of crime, revenge and political power struggles in Uttar Pradesh’s Purvanchal region.
Picking up after the dramatic events of the first season, the narrative followed Guddu Pandit’s pursuit of revenge and his ambition to challenge Kaleen Bhaiya’s control over Mirzapur.
The ensemble cast featured Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Shweta Tripathi Sharma and Rasika Dugal.
Their performances, along with the show’s dark humour and unpredictable twists, helped establish Mirzapur as a major name in Indian streaming entertainment.
The franchise’s popularity continued beyond its second season, with Mirzapur Season 3 arriving in 2024.
The makers subsequently expanded the fictional universe into cinemas with Mirzapur: The Movie, which was released theatrically on September 4, 2026.
Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, the film brought back several familiar characters, including Pankaj Tripathi’s Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal’s Guddu Pandit and Divyenndu’s Munna Tripathi.
The theatrical adaptation marked an important development for the franchise, which originally found its audience through streaming.
Six years after its second season premiered, Mirzapur continues to hold a place in Indian pop culture, with its characters and dialogues remaining recognisable to audiences.
