There are just two stops left in the Indy NXT Series season, starting with the Grand Prix of Aragon. Enzo Fittipaldi holds just a one-point lead over the field as he continues to duel with Nikita Johnson at the top of the standings. Fittipaldi has four wins this season, but is coming off 11th-place and seventh-place finishes to open the door for Johnson. Also in the mix for the driver’s championship is Tymek Kucharczyk, just 18 points back of the top spot. Those three have combined for half the wins this season and 31 top five finishes. This race will set the stage for the season-ending races at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Alessandro de Tullio won last week coming off the pole for his second victory of the season. That helped Tullio move into sixth place. He is still nearly 200 points behind the leaders. Loochie Norris, Max Taylor, and Kucharczyk finished second, third, and fourth to chip away at Fittipaldi and Johnson’s lead.
This season’s driver’s championship could be one of the closest in years. This scenario last occurred nine years ago. Three drivers are at the top of the standings, all within 50 points or less of the driver’s championship.
Fittipaldi holds the slightest edge with a one-point lead over Johnson. Just behind them is Kucharczyk, only 18 points back, taking over as the leader. This penultimate stop of the 2026 season could shake up the standings even more. Each race winner earns 50 points, followed by 40 points, 35 points, 32 points, and 30 points for each top-five finisher.
