Miley Cyrus has changed her online identity. On Monday, August 31, the singer removed “Cyrus” from her social media handles. She now appears simply as “Miley” across her accounts.
Cyrus did not explain the switch right away. Instead, she posted two red and black portrait photos on Instagram. One caption read just “MILEY” in capital letters. Fans and outlets quickly connected the move to her next album.
The 33-year-old star has not confirmed a title, release date, or lead single. Some reports suggest “MILEY” could end up being the album’s name rather than just a rebrand. No official word has come from her team on that point.

A new label
The timing lines up with a major business shift. Cyrus signed with Atlantic Records last month. She previously released music through Sony’s Columbia and RCA labels. Her official website now lists Atlantic as her label home, according to reports tracking the update.
This would mark her first project under Atlantic. Her last album, “Something Beautiful,” came out through Columbia in May 2025. Before that, “Endless Summer Vacation” arrived in 2023 and included “Flowers,” the song that earned her first Grammy wins in 2024 for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
Hints about the music
Cyrus gave a small preview of the album’s theme last month. During a Wonderland Magazine Q&A with Daryl Hannah, she described the record as a love story. She added that love stories are never simple, and said the romance in her music reflects where she stands in life right now.
She was also spotted arriving at a Los Angeles recording studio last Tuesday, according to photos taken by paparazzi. That appearance adds to the sense that new material is close.
A difficult week
The rebrand landed during an emotional stretch for Cyrus. Dolly Parton, her longtime mentor and close friend, died at age 80 after a brief cancer battle. Cyrus posted a tribute on Instagram shortly after the news broke.
In her message, she recalled one of their final conversations. She said they had talked about music and metamorphosis. She wrote that she has an angel by her side and that she wants to make Parton proud. She also said her heart breaks for Parton’s family and friends, and that fans are grieving together.
The bond between the two women dates back years. Parton is Cyrus’s godmother, and their friendship has often been described as close and enduring, both personally and musically.
