Mike Trout is fiercely loyal to the Los Angels Angels and the state of California. The future Hall of Fame outfielder could have forced his way off the tortured franchise multiple times, but he remains committed to the Halos and Anaheim. The New Jersey native still has northeast allegiances, however. He is a passionatePhiladelphia Eagles fan, a lifestyle choice that now comes with an interesting layer.

Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke has agreed to buy the Angels, with the monumental purchase going through Kroenke Sports & Entertainment for a valuation of $4 billion. Assuming Trout stays with the ballclub through the remainder of his contract — expires after the 2030 season — he will probably get to know the new man in charge pretty well. The three-time American League MVP has no intention of abandoning the Eagles, though.

“Mike Trout said he’s too diehard of an Eagles fan to change allegiances and become a Rams fan with Stan Kroenke buying the team,” MLB.com’s Rhett Bollinger posted on X. “But said that he would go support the Rams at a home game as long as they weren’t playing the Eagles.”

LA will enter the 2026 NFL campaign as a heavy favorite to win the Super Bowl after upgrading the secondary, acquiring reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett and reuniting with all-time great defensive tackle Aaron Donald. Philly is in somewhat of a transition phase after trading AJ Brown, drafting Makai Lemon and swapping offensive coordinators once again. Even so, the Eagles boast an abundance of talent and could potentially disrupt the Rams’ grand plan to celebrate another championship in their own stadium.

The Angels have lost 85 games or more for the seventh season in eight years and could post 100 losses in a single campaign for the first time ever, so Trout will have plenty of time to keep up with the NFL action. Though, perhaps this pending ownership change will lead to shorter offseasons in the near future.
