Mike Flanagan Hopes His ‘Carrie’ TV Series Runs for Three Seasons

The Curse of Silver

Deadline reports Lily Gladstone (Killers Of The Flower Moon) and Kiowa Gordon (Blood Quantum) are attached to star in The Curse of Silver, a horror-western co-directed by Geoff Marslett (Quantum Cowboys) with Gordon, himself. Based on a script Marslett co-wrote with Rafael A. Ruiz, the story is set on the “lawless Texas-Mexico border in the aftermath of the Civil War,” and follows “two Union deserters who drag a cursed chest of Confederate silver into a besieged town, unwittingly unleashing supernatural violence.”

They Follow

According to Deadline, James Jordan (Landman) has joined the cast of They Follow in an undisclosed role.

Don’t Breathe 3

During a recent Q&A at Beyond Fest , Fede Alvarez confirmed “there’s a screenplay for Don’t Breathe 3,” with both Stephen Lang and Jane Levy attached to return should the project move forward

Giant Void

Deadline also has word The Blair Witch Project‘s Eduardo Sánchez and Daniel Myrick have boarded director Michael Reisinger’s indie sci-fi movie, Giant Void, as producers. Starring Molly Burnett (Law & Order: SVU), Elaine Hendrix, Shahjehan Khan, and Karl Glusman, the story follows Chloe (Burnett), “a brilliant but isolated computer scientist whose potentially world-changing software uncovers hidden connections she was never meant to find. As she grows closer to a new co-worker (Glusman), the discovery forces her to question the nature of human connection, reality and humanity’s place in the universe.”

The Crying Boy

Deadline additionally reports a film adaptation of Niall O’Rourke and Rob Moran’s Keenspot comic, The Crying Boy, is now in development from producer Carter Swan. Written for the screen by Rona Mark, the story concerns “a grieving widow trying to rebuild her life in Queens after the violent death of her husband. Things take a turn for the worse when she must save her young son from an even more terrifying fate, when the haunting painting of a crying child that he eerily befriends proves to be the vessel for an ancient demon that has preyed on children for millennia.”

Happy Death Day 3

In a recent Reddit AMA promoting her giant snake movie, Beware Boiúna (see below), Jessica Rothe revealed the working title of the third Happy Death Day movie is Happy Death Day Tree.

All I can really say is that Chris [Landon] and I are going to keep pushing to bring it to you. He and I have come up with a story that is so filled with scares, heart, and laughs (and so Tree). We love how much all of you love her and want to do right by her. So fingers crossed.

Also, working title: Happy Death Day Tree

In the trailer for The Cycle, Daredevil‘s Deborah Ann Woll plays a forensic anthropologist who discovers her estranged father’s corpse has been delivered to her body farm—and seemingly killed by supernatural means!

Elsewhere, a documentary crew investigating the disappearance of a young girl find her permanently altered in the trailer for The Dark Gets In.

Stillwater

Variety reports Ben Hardy has been cast in the lead role of Amazon’s new television series based on Chip Zdarsky and Ramón K Pérez’s comic book, Stillwater. Described as a “mind-bending horror thriller,” the story concerns ex-con Daniel West (Hardy) after he “receives a mysterious letter promising answers about his past and a substantial inheritance in the small town of Stillwater.” Upon his arrival, “he discovers a community where nothing ever ages, no one ever dies, and nobody ever gets out.”

Carrie

Finally, Mike Flanagan revealed to Collider he hopes his TV series based on Stephen King’s Carrie runs an additional two seasons, suggesting he has additional story ideas extending far past the original novel.

In my dream scenario…I think it’s three seasons. In my dream scenario, I think Carrie has a wonderful three-step arc. It’s a trilogy, really.
