Talk us through an average day in your role.
A typical day involves helping customers navigate both the technical and commercial aspects of their media technology investments. My background in broadcast, systems integration and media finance means I spend a lot of time bringing technical and financial stakeholders together, ensuring solutions not only meet operational requirements but also make commercial sense. Ultimately, it’s about helping customers make informed investment decisions that support their long-term business goals.
How did you get started in the media industry?
I entered the industry in 2000 with Snell & Wilcox after spending 15 years as a golf professional. From there, I worked across manufacturers including Barco and Grass Valley, before moving into media finance with Paragon Bank, where I helped customers fund major broadcast investments. Most recently, I spent almost a decade at ES Broadcast, giving me experience across manufacturing, finance and systems integration.
What training did you have before entering the industry?
My career has been built through hands-on experience rather than a traditional route into broadcast. Working across manufacturers, finance and systems integration gave me the opportunity to understand the industry from multiple perspectives, while learning directly from customers, colleagues and technology partners over the past 25 years.
Why do you enjoy working in the industry?
The media industry is constantly evolving, so there’s always something new to learn. I enjoy helping customers solve complex challenges and bringing together different technologies into solutions that genuinely make a difference to their businesses. It’s an industry built on innovation and collaboration, and that’s what keeps it interesting.
What piece of advice would you offer someone looking to explore a role similar to yours?
Never be frightened to ask the question. There’s always someone smarter in the room, and every conversation is an opportunity to learn. The best people in this industry stay curious, listen carefully and never assume they know all the answers.
