Marvel Studios appears to be reworking its Disney+ plan for the MCU. The reported shift is toward fewer tightly interconnected Disney+ shows, more of a movie-first approach, and still a lineup of Disney+ series in 2026 and 2027. It comes after Disney CEO Bob Iger said Marvel expanded too far into streaming and diluted the brand.
Under this reset, the biggest crossover stories, the major status-quo changes, and the main story beats are expected to move back to theaters. Marvel Television is also said to be trimming down to about two series a year, so fans shouldn’t have to watch every streaming release just to keep up.
There’s a reported change in how those shows will be built, too. Future series are said to be moving toward a more traditional TV model, with showrunners and writers’ rooms, while putting more weight on standalone, grounded, character-driven, street-level stories under labels such as Marvel Spotlight.
If you follow the MCU on Disney+, this sounds encouraging. It could ease some of the franchise fatigue without Marvel stepping away from streaming altogether.
You can still expect Wonder Man, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, X-Men ’97 Season 2, and VisionQuest on Disney+ in 2026. Then in 2027, the lineup reportedly continues with Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, X-Men ’97 Season 3, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2.
