Marvel announces ‘Zodiac,’ its new espionage series for 2028 that aims to bring back an old ally of the Avengers

At New York Comic-Con 2026, Marvel Television unveiled its new project for Disney+: ‘Zodiac’. It’s a spy series set to premiere in 2028, with filming set to begin next spring. So far, the creators have only revealed the project’s logo and confirmed that the casting process will begin in a few weeks. But there’s an additional detail—one that didn’t come from them—that’s already causing quite a stir.

To the surprise of Marvel fans, actor Clark Gregg shared the announcement about ‘Zodiac’ on his social media accounts. For years, Gregg played Phil Coulson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in films such as ‘Iron Man,’ ‘Thor,’ and ‘The Avengers,’ where he established himself as one of their most important allies. He later starred in the series ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ in which he cemented his place in the hearts of many MCU fans. Will we see Agent Coulson again in ‘Zodiac’? It’s a very real possibility.

Marvel Continues to Bet on Live-Action Series on Disney+

The announcement of “Zodiac” comes a year after “Ironheart” premiered on Disney+ and went largely unnoticed by critics and audiences alike. However, Marvel wants to continue investing in the television format with new projects like this one, which will continue to expand the MCU while introducing more characters and elements from the original comics.

‘Zodiac’ won’t be released for another two years, but before then, we’ll be able to enjoy other highly anticipated productions, such as the third (and final) season of ‘Daredevil’ and ‘VisionQuest,’ the series that will bring the trilogy—comprising ‘WandaVision’ and ‘Agatha All Along’—to a close.
