Maria Bamford is a comedian for comedy nerds, as was clear when she made Game Changercontestants starstruck in the Season 8 finale, “Last Talent Standing.”
Her unique brand of stand-up blends personal stories, a wide range of silly voices, and an irreverence that is deliriously entertaining. Over her years onstage and in voice-acting across a panoply of projects, she has made fans of bigger names in the industry, like Stephen Colbert, Patton Oswalt, and Conan O’Brien. And all of them appear in her new Netflix documentary, Paralyzed by Hope: The Maria Bamford Story.
While the film played SXSW earlier this year, comedy nerd (and Mashable Entertainment Editor) Kristy Puchko sat down with Bamford to talk about the documentary, her thoughts on fame, capitalism, and why she’s stayed true to her own voice — literally.
Paralyzed by Hope: The Maria Bamford Storyis now streaming on Netflix.Recommended deals for you
