Margaret Cho revealed she has had multiple abortions after getting pregnant by notable men in the entertainment industry.
During an appearance on the latest episode of the Dinky Podcast, the actress and comedian, 57, explained why she is “really glad” that she doesn’t have children.
“I have gotten pregnant a few times and every time I’m like, ‘No no no, I don’t want this.’ And physically, being pregnant is so unpleasant to me. It’s such a weird sensation. I really don’t like it,” she said. “Even for the very brief times that I was pregnant, it was so unpleasant.”
Cho said it was an “instantaneous” decision to terminate her pregnancies. She added that her last pregnancy was about 10 years ago, when she suffered a miscarriage and required a D&C procedure.
The Run Amok star also noted that the pregnancies she terminated were from high-profile men.
“The other people that I’ve gotten pregnant by would’ve [fathered] formidable nepo babies now. I’m not gonna say who they were but they were both really accomplished, super handsome men in entertainment,” she said. “I would’ve won the Wasian Olympics. I would’ve had the Hudson Williams of our era . . . The caliber of the semen that we’re talking about was high end. It’s just a funny thing to think about. We lost out on a couple of really excellent wasians.”
Cho has been transparent over the years about her past abortions and frequently advocates for bodily autonomy on social media, stressing that abortions are healthcare.
She also explores the topic often in her stand-up comedy shows.
“I talk a lot about abortion, and people get really freaked out. I’m not even making a political statement. I’m just talking about what happened! I have had them and I want to talk about them,” she told XOJane, as reported byFortune.“I don’t care what your views are toward abortion, I just think women should be talking about it.”
“If males had to have abortions, it would be something that was routinely discussed, and the emotional life of it would be really examined.”
