    • Makers’ $180m Fund I has distributed 3.6x the capital invested, according to the firm.
    • Makers has invested in more than 90 portfolio companies since its 2016 founding.
    • The firm is expanding beyond games into consumer apps, entertainment and creation platforms.
    • Makers will invest globally and across stages, using equity, project financing and marketing financing where needed.

Makers Fund has closed its fourth fund at $250 million, bringing the venture capital firm’s total assets under management to $1.5 billion.

Founded in 2016, Makers said Fund IV will back founders building the next generation of games and interactive entertainment, with investments spanning consumer products, platforms and services where entertainment is central to the experience.

The firm claims it has invested in more than 90 portfolio companies to date and has teams across London, Reykjavik, Tokyo, Singapore, New York and Los Angeles.

Makers said its approach will continue to focus on high-conviction investments and long-term partnerships with founders.

Its portfolio includes Dream Games, where it invested in every round from its first check through its reported $5bn acquisition by CVC, as well as FaceIt, PixAI and Voldex.

The firm’s $180m Fund I has distributed 3.6x the capital invested, which Makers said places it among the top 1% of venture funds globally. Fund IV will invest globally and across stages, while also expanding Makers’ focus beyond games.

“The industry keeps evolving, and so will we,” said Maker Fund general partner Michael Cheung. “Equity, project financing, marketing financing – whatever it takes to help our founders build generational companies, that’s the partner we want to be.”
