After 15 years of explosive reunions, messy breakups, music-industry feuds, and careers launched far beyond reality television, Love & Hip Hop is officially coming to an end.
VH1 has now confirmed that Love & Hip Hop: The Final Chapter, a six-part retrospective celebrating the franchise’s 15-year run, will premiere November 10 at 8 p.m. ET. The farewell event will air simultaneously on VH1, BET, and MTV, bringing together the personalities and behind-the-scenes figures responsible for one of reality television’s longest-running franchises.
And there’s plenty of history to revisit.
Since its New York debut in 2011, Love & Hip Hop has introduced audiences to some of entertainment’s most recognizable personalities, including Cardi B, Joseline Hernandez, K. Michelle, and Yandy Smith.
It also gave established artists like Joe Budden, Jim Jones, Remy Ma, and Stevie J a platform to showcase their personal lives alongside their music careers.
Cardi B, who appeared on Love & Hip Hop: New York before becoming a Grammy-winning rapper, remains one of the franchise’s biggest success stories. Hernandez became a breakout personality on the Atlanta installment, while Budden’s relationship drama with Tahiry Jose and Cyn Santana helped make him a fixture of the New York cast before he later found success in podcasting.
The franchise eventually also expanded to Hollywood and Miami, documenting everything from recording sessions and business deals to cheating allegations, legal troubles, and relationships that didn’t survive the cameras.
Now, the people who lived through those moments have another chance to talk about them.
The Final Chapter will feature new interviews with cast members from all four cities, along with producers, executives, journalists, and cultural critics who will examine the franchise’s impact and controversies.
Lashan Browning, founder and CEO of Antoinette Media and an executive producer of the retrospective, said the farewell is intended to recognize everyone who contributed to the show’s success.
“TheLove & Hip Hopfranchise has always been about the people,” Browning said in a statement.
“As we step into this final chapter, we’re making sure our ending hits like it should, for our talent in front of and behind the camera, and for every fan who’s been rocking with us from day one,” she added. “Once more for the culture.”
The announcement follows another round of headlines involving longtime cast members Yandy Smith and Mendeecees Harris, whose relationship played out across multiple seasons.
Harris recently confirmed that the couple separated after more than two decades together, revealing that their televised wedding never became a legal marriage.
“We was never legally married, so we’re not getting a divorce,” Harris said during an appearance on Yung Joc & The Streetz Morning Takeover.
Their breakup also became entangled in allegations involving Tamar Braxton, who denied having a romantic relationship with Harris. Harris likewise denied the claims, while Braxton subsequently joked about collecting “apology payments” from people who accused her of being a homewrecker.
Smith, meanwhile, has already discussed life beyond the franchise. She’s also continued working with fellow Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta personality Karlie Redd on the Courageous Awards, an initiative recognizing domestic violence survivors.
For VH1, the retrospective will address both the franchise’s cultural influence and the controversies that kept it in the headlines.
“Love & Hip Hop has been a part of the fabric of VH1 and of the culture for over 15 years,” said Sitarah Pendelton, executive vice president of unscripted programming at MTV Entertainment.
The six-part event will also receive a digital cover feature through BET Immersed, with additional behind-the-scenes material.
Regular episodes of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta and Love & Hip Hop: Miami have continued airing as the franchise approaches its conclusion.
