Lady A’s Charles Kelley revealed he’s been diagnosed with a rare blood cancer.
Kelley shared his diagnosis in a video posted to Instagram, explaining that doctors discovered he had multiple myeloma after finding the cancer in his blood.
The musician said he had suffered several “random rib fractures,” leading his doctor to order tests that ultimately uncovered the disease.
“I think in the same spirit of the way we’ve kind of shared a lot of my sobriety journey, just getting this stuff off your chest is so freeing, and it takes the power away from it a little bit that we wanted to let y’all know what was going on,” he told fans in the video shared on Instagram. “And we’re going to get through it.

“In sobriety, it’s all about one day at a time and that we’re not in control, and, so, that’s the way we’re looking at it.”
Kelley assured fans he was going to work through the first six months of treatment.
“I believe it’s not going to be too super invasive. I can still work,” he said. “I think, physically, I will feel like myself. I’ll have tough days, but you know, I want to keep working.”

Kelley said continuing to perform and spend time with his loved ones would remain a priority throughout his treatment.
“I need to be happy and doing what I love to do and spending and soaking up as much time with my family as I can as well,” he said.
Kelley remained determined to face the challenge head-on.

“It’s just another hurdle, and I’m pretty confident that we’re going to get through it,” he explained.
Lady A became one of country music’s biggest crossover acts, particularly after the release of “Need You Now.” Outside the trio, Kelley has pursued solo music as well, including his Grammy-nominated collaboration “The Driver” with Dierks Bentley and Eric Paslay.

This isn’t Kelley’s first health issue. In 2022, Lady A postponed its “Request Line Tour” so Kelley could focus on his sobriety journey.
Kelley later said he entered treatment and credited his wife, Cassie, and his Lady A bandmates with supporting him.
