BSV blockchain-based social network La Mint has launched a digital collectibles marketplace, giving creators a way to turn their content into limited-edition digital assets their fans can collect, own, and trade.
The marketplace expands La Mint’s existing platform, where creators and influencers can charge fans small fees to unlock photos and other content (as well as free posts). Instead of content being viewed once and disappearing into a feed, creators can now release it as a limited edition. For example, 10 editions of a photo, allowing 10 fans to own a collectible version of that content.
The collectibles use the 1Sat Ordinals tokenization protocol. Each edition is a real item recorded on the blockchain and held in the buyer’s HandCash inventory, though users never need to understand wallets, addresses, or how blockchain works. La Mint provides the content platform and marketplace, while HandCash handles the wallet infrastructure behind the scenes. Collectibles appear in both the user’s La Mint collection and their HandCash inventory, where they can be viewed, transferred, or listed for sale.
Fans can list their collectibles for sale on the La Mint marketplace, creating a secondary market around creator content. The economics favor both sides: creators earn 80% from every original sale, and when a fan resells a collectible, the reseller keeps 90% of the sale price, while the original creator automatically receives a 2.5% royalty every time the item is resold.
“Creator content already has value,” Daniel Street, La Mint’s founder and CEO, told CoinGeek. “La Mint is building a marketplace where that value can be collected and traded by fans, while giving creators the opportunity to earn from both primary and secondary sales.”
NFTs, but for pay-per-view content
Street described the concept as “NFTs, but for pay-per-view content,” and the choice of words is deliberate.
“We think it explains the product more clearly and avoids the negative reputation and speculation associated with the term ‘NFT,’” he said. “The focus is on collecting and trading content while supporting creators, rather than promoting NFT hype.”
The experience is designed to feel more like a modern social platform than a traditional non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace. Users discover creators, browse content, collect limited releases, view their collections, and trade, with the blockchain infrastructure largely invisible behind the experience. The idea is a more participatory creator economy, where both creators and fans have opportunities to earn: creators through initial sales and ongoing royalties, fans through building collections and reselling.
La Mint has existed in various forms since 2020, when its founders pitched the concept at BSV Association’s Pitch Day in London. Originally named Memento, then Relica, it took its current name in 2022. The platform targets creators and influencers producing lifestyle content—travel, fashion, food, health, and fitness—letting them charge fans small payments to unlock individual posts, or offer content for free. Payments settle instantly, with a revenue-sharing model and an earnings dashboard for creators.
Like other BSV blockchain-based social platforms, La Mint aims to create a micropayment economy rather than relying on advertising: creators earn directly from their audience rather than through ads or sponsorship middlemen. That model is superior in earnings and convenience potential, though it faces the same onboarding challenges as any platform that asks mainstream users to handle digital assets.
La Mint is built on BSV, whose low transaction costs and scalability enable large numbers of small-value content transactions—the kind of micropayment economics that limited-edition content trading needs to work at all.
The marketplace launch comes as digital collectibles are finding their footing again after the speculative excesses of the 2021 NFT boom. La Mint’s approach inverts that earlier model: rather than speculative assets in search of content, it is content with an existing audience gaining a collect-and-trade layer.
