Game of Thrones star Kit Harington is all set to join the cast of Harry Potter Series season 2 as Gilderoy Lockhart after Nicholas Hoult exited the project over scheduling issues. The series will start shooting this fall

Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington is now all set to play Gilderoy Lockhart in Season 2 of the Harry Potter series. The actor will be replacing Nicholas Hoult, who exited the production recently due to scheduling conflicts.
Kit Harington to play Gilderoy Lockhart
As Kit recently voiced Lockhart in Audible’s Harry Potter audiobooks late last year. Notably, the character of Gilderoy Lockhart is central to the plot of the second book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
In the series, Lockhart is a well-known yet arrogant wizard popular for his many heroic acts. He becomes the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts, and it’s soon made evident that he isn’t qualified for the job. The character was earlier portrayed by Kenneth Branagh in the 2002 Chamber of Secrets film.
While speaking to the portal about the audiobooks in December, Harington, who claims to be a self-proclaimed Harry Potter nerd, said he fell in love with JK Rowling’s books as a kid and has even reread them many times since.
Talking of agreeing to lend his voice to Lockhart in the audiobooks, Harington, who played Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, said, “It was a really simple yes, because I love the character. As far as cameos in a series go, you don’t get much more entertaining and fun to do as an actor than Gilderoy Lockhart. It was a no-brainer.”
About Harry Potter series season 2
Season 2 of the Harry Potter series is based on Chamber of Secrets and is set to start shooting this fall. Dominic McLaughlin plays the titular role in the show, with Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout playing Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively.
Additionally, the cast members also include John Lithgow as Hogwarts headmaster Dumbledore. Meanwhile, Janet McTeer is Professor McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu plays Snape, and Nick Frost has been cast as Rubeus Hagrid.
Jon Brown, who served as a writer on the first season of the adaptation, has now been promoted as the co-showrunner on Season 2. Brown joins current showrunner and series developer Francesca Gardiner in his new role. Meanwhile, Gardiner serves as executive producer alongside <a href="https://comicvibe.com/roblox-nyse-rblx-director-now-holds-18927-class-a-shares/” title=”Roblox (NYSE: RBLX) director now holds 18,927 Class A shares”>director Mark Mylod.
Harry Potter author JK Rowling also served as the executive producer along with Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Bronte Film and TV and David Heyman of Heyday Films.
