Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega has always worn his inspirations on his sleeve, and that was on full display at AEW All In London 2026. Omega’s entrance featured a narration from Kenta Miyake, the voice actor for All Might from one of Omega’s favorite anime shows, “My Hero Academia,” as well as music from the show as well, and all of this was something that Omega had wanted to do for a long time.
During a recent interview with “CrunchyRoll,” Omega revealed that he hasn’t always felt 100% since returning from his battle with diverticulitis and wanted to incorporate him feeling the best he’s felt in years into both the match with Will Ospreay at Wembley Stadium, and even the entrance. It wasn’t until he rewatched “My Hero Academia” back that he realized All Might had actually gone through something similar to what he went through in real life, and the ideas started flowing from there.
“All Might incurred that terrible stomach injury,” Omega said. “Since then, his powers have been diminishing and diminishing, and because he can’t absorb the nutrients and get and receive, or he can’t absorb the nutrients and preserve his energy, the amount of time he gets to use his powers becomes smaller and smaller and smaller. It would really hit home to think back about that and relate it to my stomach issue as well. I have scars that are pretty much in the exact same spot, and I thought ‘Man, if there is ever like a large scale battle,’ and I thought this since I had finished watching the final season of My Hero Academia, I said ‘I really think that I’d like to do an armored All Might’ as sort of like an inspiration for an entrance, and for even the theme or the entire match.”
The Rest Is Up To You Now Will
Following his loss to Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega took to social media not only to thank CrunchyRoll, Kenta Miyake, and “My Hero Academia” itself for helping put his entrance and ring gear together. However, he also had one message for Ospreay that All Might himself would have said, “It’s up to you now, Will.”
Omega was asked about this post and why he said it, with Omega simply stating that he wants everyone to experience Will Ospreay as AEW World Champion as much as possible, while also wanting to tie it back in to “My Hero Academia” even in defeat.
“We had a bit of conversation, and I actually said to him ‘It’s up to you now,’ I added the part of ‘I don’t know if I can do it anymore,’ and it’s not that I can’t do it, it’s can I just not do it at the volume that the fans expect me to do it? Like All Might, like for if we’re going to tie it back to that, the amount of times he can use his powers becomes smaller and smaller and smaller, and I always feel the expectation of the people and they deserve to have the best show in town, they really do. If we have a champion that can beat me, if we have someone that the fans have adulation for, have admiration for, cheer for him or her, that’s something special.”
Omega admitted that he can’t work the schedule that Ospreay can, even noting that Ospreay wrestled at a RevPro event the night before All In London. He rounded off by saying that he doesn’t know if losing at All In London is a passing of the torch moment, but what Omega does know is that he is happy to have lost the AEW World Championship and is pleased with who he lost it to.
