Johnny Depp Appears in Costume as ‘Ebenezer’ to Debut Scrooge Movie Trailer at Comic-Con 2026
Johnny Depp is promoting his new movie in Ebenezer by getting back into character for a public appearance!
The 63-year-old actor appeared in costume as Ebenezer Scrooge at a 2026 San Diego Comic-Con activation and Hall H panel on Thursday afternoon (July 23) in San Diego, Calif.
Johnny debuted the trailer for the upcoming Paramount Pictures movie during the panel.
The official logline for the movie teases, “This November, Johnny Depp is Ebenezer Scrooge. The name you know, the story you don’t.”
The movie is directed by Ti West, who is the filmmaker behind the movies X, Pearl, and MaXXXine, a horror film series all starring Mia Goth.
A star-studded cast was assembled for Ebenezer with Depp joined by Rupert Grint as Bob Cratchit, Andrea Riseborough as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Sam Claflin as Fred, Daisy Ridley as Emily Cratchit, Arthur Conti as youn Ebenezer, Ellie Bamber as Isabel Fezziwig, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, Tramell Tillman as the Ghost of Christmas Present and Ian McKellen as Jacob Marley.
The movie was announced back in October 2025 and production began in January 2026 in Dublin and London.
Ebenezer will hit theaters on November 13, marking the first major wide release of a Depp movie since 2018’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
