Jennie’s latest song,Less Than a Lover, attained the highest regional iTunes chart debuts for any K-pop soloist in 2026, topping rankings in 27 markets after its July 24 release. According to her agency, OA Entertainment, the track gained its first local television music show trophy on Thursday while climbing to No. 2 on South Korea’s Melon Hot 100 chart.
In China, the song secured the No. 1 position across all three main streaming platforms: QQ Music, NetEase Cloud Music, and KuGou Music. The alternative-pop release also hit No. 1 on YouTube’s global trending music videos list in both the United States and South Korea.
Jennie Builds Momentum Ahead of Lollapalooza
The single’s commercial launch builds on Jennie’s summer festival appearances in Europe. The BLACKPINK member previewed the co-written track, during live sets at the Open’er Festival in Poland and the Mad Cool Festival in Spain before releasing it officially on digital platforms. Additionally, Jennie made a surprise guest appearance during Tame Impala’s concert in Boston on July 30, 2026, where they sang Draculatogether live for the first time.
The BLACKPINK member is also set to make an appearance at Lollapalooza in Chicago’s Grant Park on August 1, thus aligning her release with another festival performance. Notably, people in the United States can stream the set on Hulu, while select international markets like Europe, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and parts of the Asia-Pacific region, will be able to do the same via Disney+. Jennie will simultaneously also perform at the 25th anniversary of Summer Sonic in Japan, through August 14 to 16 across Tokyo and Osaka.
Jennie to Release Her Second Album?
Industry reports indicate that Less Than a Loveracts as the lead track for an upcoming second solo project of the BLACKPINK star. She also introduced many more unreleased songs in her festival live sets like Lock It Downand Heaven, which gives the impression that all of these materials might be included in a new solo album.
However, Jennie’s self-managing agency, OA Entertainment, has not confirmed the same or a release date for the potential full-length project. Nevertheless, the Less Than a Lover’s performance across multiple territories places it amongst Jennie’s most widely distributed solo releases to date, continuing the solo momentum she established with Ruby,which is marked as her top release outside her ventures with BLACKPINK.
