Jamie Campbell Bower reveals his Buffy fandom and Sarah Michelle Gellar poster story from his younger years today

Stranger Things star Jamie Campbell Bower has revealed a surprising detail about his longtime admiration for Sarah Michelle Gellar and the impact of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on his life.

During a 2026 San Diego Comic-Con appearance with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power co-star Charlie Vickers, Bower played a superhero-themed “Mount Rushmore” game and selected Buffy the Vampire Slayer as one of his favourite picks. While discussing the iconic series, the actor shared that he once had a poster of Gellar displayed in the attic of his home.

“I used to have a poster of Sarah Michelle Gellar in the attic of my house,” Bower revealed After Vickers jokingly questioned why it was not in his bedroom, Bower laughed and described the setup as “quite Dorian Grey” before explaining that the attic had been transformed into a playroom

Bower praised Gellar’s performance as Buffy Summers, calling her “badass” and saying the supernatural drama was a major influence during his teenage years. He also paid tribute to Anthony Head, who played Rupert Giles in the series and passed away in June at age 72.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer originally aired from 1997 to 2003 and became one of television’s most influential fantasy shows, following Buffy Summers as she battled supernatural threats alongside characters including Giles, Willow and Xander.

During the Comic-Con segment, Bower also selected other pop culture favourites, while Vickers chose characters including Xena: Warrior Princess and Wolverine, praising Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of the Marvel hero.

Bower will next return as part of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 3, which premieres on November 11.
