The latest episode of popular magazine programme “Ityadi” takes viewers to Lakshmipur, highlighting the coastal district’s history, heritage, natural beauty and the struggles of its people.

Recorded at the open grounds of Nabin Kishore High School in Dalal Bazar, a century-old institution associated with the legacy of the Dalal Bazar zamindar family, the episode features a range of special segments alongside the programme’s regular entertainment offerings.

Among the highlights is an exclusive interview with mountaineer Nishat Mazumder, the first Bangladeshi woman to summit Mount Everest. A native of Lakshmipur, Mazumder will share her experiences of mountaineering and her journey to the world’s highest peak.

The episode will also feature veteran actor Dilara Zaman, another distinguished personality from Lakshmipur. Four audience members selected through a question-and-answer segment about the district will perform in a special skit alongside the acclaimed actor.

Music will be another key attraction. Lakshmipur-born singer Tanzina Ruma and Feni-born Sajia Sultana Putul will lend their voices to a special song written by lyricist Kabir Bakul and composed by Akash Mahmud.

As in previous episodes, the programme will also feature a district-themed song-and-dance performance. The song, written by Moniruzzaman Palash and composed and arranged by Ujjal Sinha, will be performed by Ruma and Rajib, with a group of young local dancers joining the presentation.

The episode will also spotlight the lives of people whose stories often remain outside the mainstream. One of the featured reports follows a destitute boatman from Lakshmipur, documenting his daily struggle against the river and the uncertainties of life.

The programme will additionally showcase aspects of Lakshmipur’s history, heritage, tourism and natural landscape, including its soybean fields and rows of coconut and betel nut trees.

“Ityadi” has been taking its cameras beyond the confines of a studio since the 1990s, recording episodes in different parts of Bangladesh and placing local history, culture and people at the centre of its storytelling.

Written, directed and presented by Hanif Sanket, the programme is produced by Fagun Audio Vision.

The Lakshmipur episode of “Ityadi” will air on Bangladesh Television (BTV) on Friday, July 31, after the 8 pm Bangla news.
