    • iRacing and IndyCar have announced their upcoming video game is titled “IndyCar Racing The Game.”
    • The game’s release has been delayed from the second half of 2026 to early 2027.
    • This marks IndyCar’s first dedicated video game since “IndyCar Series 2005” was released in 2004.

For the first time since iRacing announced its intentions to release an IndyCar video game 11 months ago, the two companies have provided an update on the game. iRacing and IndyCar announced the game’s title, IndyCar Racing The Game, and that it is now set to release in early 2027

After iRacing originally announced the game – which will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox consoles and PC – was set to release in the second half of 2026. An official release date is still to be determined, although the news release stated that the game is “expected to launch in the countdown to the 2027 Indianapolis 500,” meaning that it may arrive in the middle of the 2027 IndyCar season

“Our new video game is going to capture the energy and drama of our sport with hyper-realism, bringing our series to a new generation of gamers,” IndyCar chief marketing officer Alex Damron said in the release. “Partnering with iRacing — the gold standard in racing simulation — ensures this will be a truly special new chapter in our gaming history. We can’t wait for fans to get behind the wheel.”

This will be IndyCar’s first video game since Codemasters released IndyCar Series 2005 in 2004. Twenty-three years and three generations of gaming consoles later, IndyCar is set to return to the gaming world

“This is a project our team has been passionate about for a long time,” iRacing president Tony Gardner said. “We’re bringing everything we know about authentic, immersive racing to consoles and PC, and creating an experience worthy of the IndyCar name. 2027 can’t come soon enough.”

More information about the game, such as features, modes and pre-order information, is set to be revealed by iRacing in the months leading up to a release
