In the Lviv region, law enforcement officials have uncovered three residents of Drohobych who are suspected of being involved in alarge-scale scheme to steal and sell accounts for the popular game Roblox. According to the investigation, from May 2025 to April 2026, they gained access tomore than 610,000 accounts.
The ringleader was a 19-year-old man. He recruited two 22-year-old acquaintances, assigned tasks to them, managed the website and Telegram channel, paid for the servers, and distributed the profits. He also personally verified the stolen accounts and determined their value.
To gain access to the profiles, they used session tokens—cookies that allowed them to log into other people’s accounts without entering a password. A special program verified the obtained data, after which the attackers evaluated the profiles based on the presence of rare items, gear, and in-game currency.
Valuable accounts were sold on Russian websites for cryptocurrency. Profiles without expensive items were sold in bulk or at a discount. On average, one account was worth about 70 rubles, and the total potential profit from the sale of all the stolen profiles could have exceeded 20 million hryvnias.
The scheme’s participants laundered part of the proceeds—2.4 million hryvnias—by exchanging cryptocurrency for hryvnias and transferring the money to their own accounts. During searches, authorities seized their computers, storage devices, phones, bank cards, records, as well as cash in dollars and euros.
In addition, law enforcement officers found cannabis extract on one of the men, which, according to the investigation, he was keeping for personal use.
Currently, all three members of the criminal group have been taken into custody, and the indictment has been submitted to the court. If found guilty, they could face up to 15 years in prison.
