MUMBAI: IMDb and IMDbPro have introduced ‘Digital Creator’ as a new professional category, giving creators a dedicated way to showcase their work and improve their visibility among entertainment industry decision-makers.

The new category is aimed at creators working across film, television, streaming and branded entertainment. It includes sub-professions such as streamer, vlogger, video essayist, video creator, gaming creator and influencer.

The move comes as digital creators increasingly move between social platforms, traditional entertainment and brand-led content. IMDb said the new designation will allow creators to represent this broader professional identity and connect with audiences, industry peers and potential employers.

“IMDbPro empowers entertainment professionals with tools that help them get discovered, build their reputation, and advance their careers,” said Nikki Santoro, CEO of IMDb. “Digital creators and their representatives need that same infrastructure, and producers, casting directors, studio executives, and brand partners need a reliable way to find them.”

Creators can add multiple professions to their IMDb and IMDbPro pages. This means someone working as both a digital creator and an actor, for instance, can showcase both roles on a single professional profile.

The new category does not require creators to have existing film or television credits. As they take on projects across social media, branded content, film, television and streaming, any earned entertainment credits can be added to the same profile, giving industry professionals a broader view of their careers.

The ‘Digital Creator’ category is currently available to IMDbPro Premium members. Eligible creators can select the category, along with relevant sub-professions, and feature it on their IMDb and IMDbPro pages.

The launch also comes as IMDbPro expands its offering for entertainment professionals in India. The platform recently introduced a free 12-month Premium membership for eligible Indian professionals, including actors, directors, producers, writers and crew members. The membership provides access to IMDbPro’s career tools without charges or automatic renewal after the 12-month period.

The new category will also get an industry showcase at the Toronto International Film Festival, where IMDb is scheduled to host an invite-only industry cocktail party on 14 September. The event will mark the debut of the Digital Creator category and highlight IMDb’s growing collaboration with Canadian entertainment guilds.

With creators increasingly be<a href="https://comicvibe.com/nycc-26-the-coming-of-panelpocalypse/” title=”NYCC '26: The coming of Panelpocalypse”>coming part of the mainstream entertainment ecosystem, IMDb is effectively giving them a new professional calling card, bringing social-first careers closer to the traditional industry database.
