How Taylor Swift Inspired Greta Lee After Starring in "Opalite" Video

Greta Leegot to taste the life of a showgirl thanks to Taylor Swift.

Indeed, the actress shared what she learned from the Grammy winner while dancing through the lightning strikes as Indie Rock Goddess in her “Opalite” music video alongside fellow Graham Norton Show guests from their October appearance.

“Taylor’s amazing,” Lee exclusively told E! News in a joint interview with The Last House costar Wagner Moura. “She just had a light bulb idea for a music video she wanted to do, and you see it happen on the actual show during the interview.”

She emphasized just how in awe she was watching Swift—who also tapped guests Domhnall Gleeson, Jodie Turner Smith, Cillian Murphy and Lewis Capaldi, along with host Graham Norton—bring the concept to life.

“Then she just went ahead and brought all of us,” the 43-year-old added, “to be in her video that she wrote and directed herself.”

The ’90s infomercial-inspired music video follows Swift’s Lonely Girl as she buys Opalite spray, a product that promises to transform lives with just one spray. As Lonely Girl—who eventually finds love in Lonely Boy (Gleeson)—shared drinks with her pet rock at the bar, Lee made her appearance singing on MTV playing on the TV.

It’s a star-studded video with Smith as Aerobics Dream Girl, Capaldi’s The Greatest Mall Photographer to Ever Do It, Norton as a Nope-alite salesman and Cillian’s voice as the Opalite infomercial narrator.

As Lee—mom to sons Apollo, 9, and Raphael, 7, with husband Russ Armstrong—prepares to make her directorial debut in the upcoming horror adaptation The Eyes Are the Best Part, she found herself looking back at Swift’s work.

“I just have such a tremendous respect for that ability, to put an idea into action and to just do it like that,” she added. “And as a woman, I have a lot of admiration for her.”

But Swift isn’t the only costar Lee is grateful to have in her life. In fact, she shared how working with Moura, 50, in The Last House—in which they play a married couple trying to survive with their two kids after being trapped in their house—felt incredibly natural.

“We love that with the story, this family’s superpower, the thing that makes them survive, is actually just their love for each other,” she began. “That is something that we wanted to honor in a bigger way. It is challenging to do that. I think it was important to try to capture like a real marriage. It was exciting for us.”

Meanwhile, Moura—who shares kids Bem, 20, Salvador, 16, and José, 13, with wife Sandra Delgado—knew how important his bond with the Past Lives actress was for the project.

“The entire film depended on that,” he explained to E!. “Greta is such a great actress. It was great. One thing that connected us, I think, was the fact that we’re both parents. The love for your children and the will to do anything you can to take care of your children was something that we both had very strongly.”

The Last House premieres Aug. 7th on Netflix.
