For Dan Levy, his Schitt’s Creekcostar Catherine O’Hara was simply the best.
That’s why the actor—who also starred in the beloved comedy alongside his real-life dad Eugene Levy and Annie Murphy—had many ways to pay tribute to O’Hara at Emmys 2026 on Sept. 14, nine months after the actress died at age 71.
“I have a little, black rose in honor of mySchitts Creek family,” Dan exclusively told Keltie Knight of his custom-made suit during Live From E!: 2026 Emmys. “It’s a strange, surreal evening.” (Click here to see all the celebs on the red carpet.)
Besides, the 43-year-old noted, “How do you distill so many feelings into such a small gesture?”
“All you can really do is lead with love and lead with your most sincere thoughts and feelings,” continued Dan, who will also appear onstage alongside his Schitt’s Creekcastmates for a segment about O’Hara, “and hope that you honor a woman whose legacy is so much bigger than all of us.”

Especially since Dan said “one of the greatest nights of my life was at the Emmys” with O’Hara, who won an Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series award in 2020 for her portrayal of Moira Rose.
“Catherine was such a singular force,” he shared. “I remember looking back on my time and thinking, ‘Just let her do her thing. Give her space. Give her anything she wants. If she wants to wear wigs, let her wear wigs. If she wants to name those wigs, let her name those wigs. Do anything you can to make her happy because what she is doing on this show is next level.'”
And O’Hara show-stopping performance on Schitt’s Creek is why Dan, who co-created the series, has no intention of ever reviving it.
“Not now,” he toldCBS News Sunday Morning earlier this year. “You can’t.”
