Nike just dropped this year’s NFL Rivalries collection this week, and everyone has been going bananas over the new Air Max 90 shoes. All this talk about rivalries has got me thinking about how little the Jets’ rivalries matter when the team is this bad. To the Bills and Patriots, we’re just two automatic wins that you can pencil in on the schedule every season. I know I harp on this a lot, but it’s getting harder to root for this team every year.
This Rivalries collection also has me thinking: what if I just changed my allegiances? With all this new NFC North apparel available and my Upper Midwest roots firmly put down, I’ve got some tempting options:
Green Bay Packers Bomber Jacket
Feels like the most obvious allegiance change for me, considering I’ve lived in Wisconsin for the better part of the last 15 years. And nothing beats a football Sunday in the Dairy State.
Chicago Bears Dri-FIT Pullover Hoodie
Sure, it would be wildly antithetical to my Wisconsin residency, but I didn’t grow up along the I-94 corridor, so I have no emotional stake in this bitter rivalry. Plus, I’ll admit that the Bears beating the Packers in the playoffs last year was absolutely thrilling.
