Asteristic Game Studio’s action platformer DekaDuck will release on Nintendo Switch, it’s been confirmed. Launch timing has not been decided, but will be shared later.
DekaDuck was previously funded on Kickstarter. Fans helped raise $35,000 to get the game released on various platforms, including Nintendo Switch.
The hand-drawn game will have players playing as a space bounty hunter, in his quest to unravel a deep conspiracy. We have more information about it in the following overview:
DekaDuck is a fast-paced, hand-drawn 2D action platformer starring a half-duck, half-robot bounty hunter with an attitude. Dash, shoot, and grab your way through six secret-packed planets, defeat towering bosses, and bring the galaxy’s most wanted criminals to justice.
While fleeing the Intergalactic Police, the brilliant and morally flexible Dr. Less, his daugther Petite and her pet duck Deka crash-land on an uncharted planet alongside the police ship that was chasing him. Stranded and desperate, he uses what’s left of his daughter’s pet duck and a whole lot of illegal tech to create DekaDuck: a one-of-a-kind cybernetic marvel! With the new body, Deka is perfect for hunting bounties across the stars. Now DekaDuck works the criminal underworld from the inside, taking down targets while staying one step ahead of the very cops who’d love to decommission him.
- Fast, fluid combat: Chain together dashes, shots, and teleport strikes at breakneck speed. Every encounter rewards aggression and precision! Standing still is not an option.
- Throw Hands: Dekaduck’s detachable hand is your greatest weapon. Grab enemies out of the air, hurl them into each other, swing from platforms, snatch items from across the screen! If you can see it, you can probably grab it.
- Use enemy abilities: Grabbing isn’t just for throwing. Snag a bat to use it as a boomerang, latch onto a spring-loaded enemy to rocket-jump, or turn tiny duck-bots into walking bombs. Every enemy is a tool waiting to be exploited.
- Powerful Weapons: Find new chips with powerful new tools and weapons that Dekaduck can equip, giving him extreme new abilities!
- Six fully hand-drawn worlds: Blast off from Dr. Less’ ship to explore six distinct planets, each packed with hidden areas, unique enemies, and a massive boss fight. Every frame is drawn by hand.
- A cast of weirdos: Meet Aiko, the Intergalactic Police Captain who definitely has a crush on Dekaduck (awkward), and Ekos, a shady arms dealer who sells weapons in the most literal sense possible. The galaxy is full of strange friends and stranger enemies.
- Killer soundtrack: Featuring an original score by Dominic Ninmark that drives every dash, grab, and boss showdown.
Note – No animals were harmed in the making of this game.
