TL;DR: Reports say Rockstar commissioned an external animation studio to create multiple original TV shows-and some live-action content-for players to watch inside GTA 6, a potential expansion of in-game media beyond the short loops seen in GTA 5; the claim comes from a podcast visit, not an official Rockstar statement.

Rockstar Games apparently didn’t stop at building a massive open world for GTA 6; it also produced actual television shows for players to watch inside the game. The detail comes from Kinda Funny’s Andy Cortez, who visited Rockstar North’s Edinburgh studio alongside Greg Miller and got a firsthand look at some of the watchable media built for the game.

According to Cortez on the latest Kinda Funny Gamescast, Rockstar showed him at least two different shows during the visit, including one he described as similar in style to Family Guy. Per Cortez, the team brought in an outside animation studio specifically to produce episodes for the game, and some of the content reportedly goes beyond animation into live-action territory as well.

“We hired an animation studio to make us like I don’t know how many episodes of this cartoon,” Cortez said. “We have so much watchable media in this game.”

In-game TV isn’t new for the series. GTA 5 had its own channels players could flip through on in-game televisions, but usually as short looping clips rather than anything resembling a full season. If Cortez’s account is true, GTA 6 sounds like it’s treating watchable media as its own production pipeline instead, which would be a meaningful jump in scope from what Rockstar has done before.

    Question #1

Did Rockstar hire an outside animation studio to produce original TV shows for GTA 6?

According to Kinda Funny host Andy Cortez, Rockstar brought in an outside animation studio to produce episodes of original in-game TV shows for GTA 6. This account comes from Cortez’s visit to Rockstar North and is reported on a podcast recap rather than an official Rockstar announcement.
    Question #2

Will the in-game TV content in GTA 6 include live-action segments as well as animation?

According to Kinda Funny host Andy Cortez’s report in the primary article, some of GTA 6’s in-game TV content reportedly goes beyond animation into live-action territory as well. This account comes from a podcast recap rather than an official Rockstar statement, so it is not officially confirmed.
    Question #3

How does GTA 6’s watchable media differ from the TV content in GTA 5?

Has Rockstar officially confirmed the reports about original TV episodes for GTA 6?

This isn’t officially confirmed by Rockstar itself, since it’s coming from a podcast recap rather than a company statement, and there’s no word yet on how many shows or episodes will actually make it into the shipped game. Still, the general direction is clear enough. GTA 6 is aiming to give players plenty of reasons to put the controller down and just sit on a virtual couch for a while.
