Nothing Golden can stay.
Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple, who met on the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelorette have broken up, calling off their engagement after two years together.
“Two years ago, Chock and I took a leap of faith and got engaged during our season of The Golden Bachelorette, hoping we had found our forever,” a statement shared to Vassos’ Instagram Stories Nov. 6 read. “We spent the last two years living what we hoped would be the beginning of our love story, sharing our families, amazing adventures, laughter and supporting each other through challenging times.”
However, as she and Chapple—who also shared the same statement to his account—noted, “Sadly, our journey hasn’t turned out the way we had hoped and we have decided to end our engagement.”
“We truly want each other to be happy,” she concluded, “and I’m grateful for the chapter we shared.”
Vassos first raised eyebrows about her and Chapple’s relationship status when she stepped out at the Page Six Virtual Reali-Tea Awards Oct. 6 without her engagement ring.

Golden Bachelorette‘s Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple Reveal Their Wedding Timeline
Following Chapple’s proposal to Vassos in the July 2024 finale of The Golden Bachelorette, the couple had a slow and steady approach to planning their nuptials, previously teasing they’d be open to a televised ceremony like The Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist opted for. (The inaugural Golden couple split just two months later.)
“As far as televised or just like a little private thing, [we] originally thought private—just our friends and family, smaller, maybe destination,” Vassos told E! News in 2024. “But now, we’re thinking maybe we’d be open for a televised one.”
Still, the former school administrator expressed hesitation.
“Bachelor Nation has kind of watched us through this whole journey,” she reasoned, “and then to abruptly end it and not show anybody the next chapter of it would be not really that kind. And so we’re thinking about maybe, maybe doing that.”
At the time, Vassos and Chapple, both 63, expressed hope to walk down the aisle “within a year” but also had more pressing hopes for their then-budding relationship.
“We’re just happy to not have anything epic to do right now because that’s all we’ve been doing for the last six months,” Vassos explained, noting they were looking forward to the opportunity to “be a couple and enjoy each other and get to know each other’s friends and family.”
For the couple, that also meant exploring the possibility of moving to New York together.
“We’re just excited,” Chapple told E! “I think it’s going to be fun to watch Joan handle all this—from the furnishings to everything else to where we live. We get along so well I’m like, ‘This is yours. It was my gift to you. You pick it. You pick exactly what you want.’”
In the final episode of The Golden Bachelorette, Chapple had beat out runner-up Guy Gansert in winning Vassos’ heart in his Bora Bora proposal.
“I still think I’m in a dream and I’m just going to wake up,” Chapple told Vassos in the finale. “But Joan, I love you and I want you to be in my life.”
Vassos, for her part, had eagerly accepted Chapple’s hand.
“You made me feel comfortable, you made me feel safe, I felt like we could take care of each other,” she told him, “and I knew you would never hurt me.”

Even before Mel Owen’s season of The Golden Bachelor kicked off, he was hit with a few penalties after going on the MGoBlue Podcasts With Jon Jansen and insisting, “if they’re 60 or over, I’m cutting them,” adding that he wanted them to “try to stay away from the artificial hips and the wigs.”
And while Peg Munson is a fellow sexagenarian, his connection with the retired firefighter and bomb tech was quite explosive, with the former NFL linebacker praising her as “high-energy” to Glamour.
Though he didn’t take a knee during his November 2025 finale, the sports lawyer still offered up a Neil Lane sparkler, saying, “This represents our commitment to love, to give us time to figure out together what our future holds.”
Munson announced in October 2026 that the couple had split, sharing on Instagram, “I did have to make the difficult decision to step away from the relationship. Sometimes, even when there’s love, it just doesn’t turn out the way that we hoped. So right now, I’m just, I’m just focusing on healing my heart and just focusing on myself, my health, and looking forward to the next chapter.”
According to Spencer Conley (who intrigued Jenn Tran with his “golden retriever energy” on The Bachelorette), he fetched quite the catch on the 10th season of Bachelor in Paradise. Posting a snippet of himself and Jess Edwards (she took a swing at Bachelor Joey Graziadei’s heart) revealing that they were falling for one another—Bachelor code for I’m not quite ready to say, “I love you”—he wrote on his Instagram Stories in August 2025 that he’d “already won.”
Hard same from Jess, who wrote on her main feed, “just feeling a lil giddy about this man & whatnot.”
And they were certainly smiling when, after choosing their relationship over the $250,000 prize, they got engaged and walked away with a surprise check worth $190,000.
“Everything that we’ve been through,” Jess said, “has led us to this exact moment.”
Since then, their love led her to Dallas, Jess revealing during Mel’s November 2025 After the Finale Rose special that she was Texas-bound in a few weeks.
“This was my best first date,” Bailey Taylor Brown wrote on Instagram in August 2025 after she took Jeremy Simon out on Paradise’s 10th season. And perhaps her last? The social media manger, who initially competed for Grant Ellis’ heart, and the real estate investor who nearly charmed Bachelorette Jenn managed to survive their most dramatic squabble ever when she learned he had second thoughts about sending Susie Evans home.
Still, their connection continued to heat up in Costa Rica. And while they were sent home during the Bachelor in Paradise finale, they continued to pursue a relationship off-camera. In fact, the show revealed that they’ve met each other families and that they’re planning to move to the same city.
“We feel so lucky to have found each other,” Bailey wrote on Instagram in September 2025, “and couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come.”
Seems the connection between Paradise season 10 pair Andrew Spencer (one of Katie Thurston’s suitors) and Alexe Godin (from Grant’s season) has remained trés strong post-show. Six days after the Chicago-based football player dubbed the pedatric speech therapist “mon amour” in an August 2025 Instagram post, she labeled him “mon chéri” in her own missive.
And while they chose love over the $250,000 prize during the BiP finale, they still got to head home with $125,000 in their pockets.
“This is frickin unreal,” Alexe said. “I am leaving with money, but not just money—love, the most important thing.”
And they’re bringing their love to the Windy City, with the show revealing Alexe’s plans to move to Chicago with Andrew.
“Finally found someone just as weird as me,” she wrote on Instagram in September 2025, “and I can’t wait to do life with you.”
Kat Izzo and Dale Moss went through a thorny moment during the Bachelor in Paradise finale when former contestant Sean McLaughlin alleged she “stashed a laptop” and had been sending an ex love letters. However, the nurse practitioner denied contacting him on the show.
“Did me and my ex still have a relationship prior to this?” she said. “Yes, because I didn’t think I was gonna meet anybody here.”
While Kat and Dale were sent home before the final test of Paradise, their romance continued to bloom. The show revealed the alum from Zach Shallcross’ season and the former contestant from Clare Crawley’s went on to travel across the U.S. together and made plans to build a future together, including moving closer.
“It was tough at times,” Dale commented under Kat’s August 2025 Instagram post, “but we navigated it together…and I wouldn’t change a thing.”
But their journey came to a close in early 2026.
Among the issues Kat detailed during a January appearance on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast was his unwillingness to relocate from NYC.
“San Diego is apparently, to him, not anywhere he could grow his career,” she explained. “I never really got full answers. I don’t really know what the true reason was.”
Golden Bachelorette alum Gary Levingston and Leslie Fhima (a runner up for Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner’s heart) appeared to have quite the glittery future when they were voted off Bachelor in Paradise’s 10th season, even writing about “making new memories” in a post-elimination social media video. But the onetime Prince muse isn’t quite sure if she wants to be his lover.
“We talk all the time,” she revealed during an August 2025 appearance on Bachelor Happy Hour. “Gary is, I can honestly say right now, one of my best friends. I’ll call him if I have a problem. He kind of talks me off the ledge a little bit, and we are always there for each other. We have each other’s back.”
While she acknowledged that the nearly 2,000 miles between them (she’s based in Minnesota; he’s in California) complicates the situation, she hasn’t given up hope. “All I know is that for me, a big thing with any relationship, a romantic one for sure, is I want to be friends first,” she continued. “Because I want to be with my best friend growing older.”
Golden Bachelorette’s head mansion man Kim Buike found someone to make sweet music with in Gerry Turner’s first impression rose recipient Faith Martin. Though they were eliminated on the 10th season of Paradise, they sailed off into the sunset, with Faith posting a video to Instagram in August 2025 of the retired navy captain enjoying a hometown date with her in Washington.
However, they ultimately realized they weren’t each other’s person and that they were better off as friends.
“We talk sometimes two to three times a week,” Faith said in a September 2025 Instagram video. “He lives five and a half hours away. But the point is this: We are not a in-love couple. Nope, we are not. We never fell in love. We had a great connection on the show.”
“This is one of the harder things I’ve had to write, but I want to share it honestly. Juliana and I have decided to end our relationship,” Grant wrote on his Instagram Story June 13. “We both gave this our best and poured a lot of love into each other, but after a lot of deep conversations, we’ve come to the understanding that we’re simply not the right fit long term.”
“We are living proof that no matter what life throws at you that there is still hope, even at our age,” Joan said on The Golden Bachelorette’s November 2024 finale before Chock proposed in Bora Bora. “I waited ’til this moment in this amazing location to tell you that I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to wake up next to you in the morning, and I want to kiss you when I go to bed at night.”
Though the pair are still navigating long-distance, they’re slowly making plans for their life together.
“We have grown kids and they just happen to be falling into that part of their lives too,” Joan shared in a February 2026 Instagram Q&A, explaining why they’re considering a 2027 wedding date. “We’ll get married sometime when our kids aren’t getting married.”
“He was making bold proclamations of love and then suddenly the next day he was like, nothing and he denied ever being in love,” Jenn told host Jesse Palmer during the Sept. 3 episode. “All the promises he had made to me, all of the love that he had wanted to give to me wasn’t there anymore.”
Drama continued to play out when Devin shared a 13-minute video recounting his side of the story to Instagram, where in addition to taking “accountability” he shared insight into why he ended the relationship in a 15-minute phone call.
While Jenn alleged he dumped her during the call in August, he claimed that Jenn demanded to know what was wrong as he tried to find a way to break the news in person.
“I didn’t really know what else to do,” he explained, noting he had been waiting to tell her in person. “She kind of forced my hand.”
After that, Jenn waltzed over to Dancing With the Stars and into the heart of her partner Sasha Farber. The duo continued to dance together even after their October 2024 elimination, but split in 2025.
However, three months after their nuptials, the couple announced that they were breaking up.
“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth,” Gerry said during a joint appearance on Good Morning America with Theresa April 2024. “We’ve come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage.”
They reached a divorce settlement in June 2024, according to court records reviewed by E! News.
In April 2025, Gerry revealed on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast that he was dating someone new and “it’s going well.”
They wed on May 23, 2025, in what Kaity labeled “a cute little chapel celebration.” Though they’d initially planned a larger affair, “I just took a step back, and I was like, ‘I don’t know if we need this,'” she explained on a June 2025 episode of the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast. “The whole point of a wedding is just staying true to the love and the connection of both of us, and I felt like I was honing in too much on little details.”
But one key element left her charmed. The aunt who nominated her to compete for Zach’s heart found the Austin-area chapel they used for their ceremony. Said Kaity, “It was perfect.”
Susie went on to date Bachelor Nation member Justin Glaze, before the couple announced they had broken up in August 2024.
Bachelor Nation’s first same-sex couple got engaged on season six of Bachelor in Paradise but announced their 2019 split on Halloween.
“What has always been at the forefront of our relationship is love and care for one another. Our priority is doing what is best for us. With a heavy heart full of love for one another we have decided it is best for us to take a step back from our relationship,” they said in a joint statement posted on Instagram. “We ultimately want what is best for us in the long run and for us right now, that means being apart and growing individually.”
Former Bachelorette Becca and Thomas Jacobs (one of Katie Thurston’s suitors) got together on Bachelor in Paradise season seven in 2021, broke up on the show, then reconciled after production wrapped. In May 2022, they announced they were engaged, and that Becca proposed. “I hope that other people can now feel empowered and say it’s okay to bend the rules,” she told E! News. The real estate agent returned the favor that October. In September 2023, the two welcomed their first child, son Benson. Wrote Becca on Instagram, “No amount of words can begin to capture the amount of love and awe we have over this tiny man.”Though she’s awfully fond of her 6-foot-6 guy as well. Weeks after bringing home Benson, the pair wed in a spontaneous Oct. 13 ceremony.
