ROOTS 2 RUNWAY brings a free celebration of Black fashion, <a href="https://comicvibe.com/hpnotiqs-iconiq-journey-from-new-york-nightlife-to-pop-culture/” title=”Hpnotiq's Iconiq Journey from New York Nightlife to Pop Culture”>culture and South London creativity to Brixton’s historic Market Row this Sunday {October 25}.

This Black History Month, Market Row at Brixton Village will bring together South London’s Black fashion designers and creative talent for ROOTS 2 RUNWAY, celebrating fashion, culture and community.

Taking place from 2pm until late, the free event will feature fashion presentations, live performances, a panel discussion with designers and opportunities to discover and shop independent fashion.

ROOTS 2 RUNWAY grew out of the Market Row working group, bringing together fashion tenants and local creatives with the aim of creating a platform for Black-owned fashion and lifestyle brands.

The inaugural event marks the start of this initiative, with plans to expand the programme in 2027.

Hosted by Market Row, with support from Brixton BID, the event celebrates Black designers and creatives with links to South London.

Sharon Brooks, Creative Director of ROOTS 2 RUNWAY, said: “ROOTS 2 RUNWAY celebrates the creativity and talent of independent Black designers, giving them a platform to showcase their work and share the stories behind it.

“Brixton has long been a centre of Black culture, enterprise and creative expression, making it the perfect setting to bring fashion, culture and community together.

“We want to champion independent designers and celebrate the local businesses that make Brixton such a vibrant and distinctive place.”

Diana Nabagereka, General Manager of Brixton Village, said: “Market Row is fast becoming home to some of South London’s most exciting Black-owned fashion and lifestyle brands.

“Black History Month gives us an opportunity to celebrate these brands and the creativity they bring to Brixton. This event is just the beginning, and I remain committed to developing it into a successful annual celebration of Black culture.”

Market Row is approximately a two-minute walk from Brixton Station, with entrances on Coldharbour Lane, Electric Lane and Atlantic Road. Visitors can also explore more than 100 independent traders across Brixton Village and Market Row.

    The programme includes:
Fashion presentations featuring new and signature pieces from South London designers
A panel discussion and audience Q&A with the designers
Shopping from independent designers and Market Row businesses, including Chinakwe, Uptown Yardie, ÀṢẸ BOUTIQUE, CHÉ REID and A Celebration of Demonstration
Music from The Handson Family, Leslie Michel, Melvina Moves and Pete Mello
