Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is something that has changed the way we watch anime. Mainstream anime was always dominated by streams of series where the heroes’ adventures and even their goals begin with killing the final boss.
But it was the first time we got to watch our heroes’ lives after their adventure ended and it is what resonated more with Fierens fans.
Moreover, now finally, Frieren writer Kanehito Yamada is recommending a brand new fantasy manga to their fans that I have scope of getting sensation amongst the Japan.
According to PR Times, Yamada recently shared a review on a series called Nemu the Corpse Carrier, an action-fantasy manga that first started on the web manga site Kurage Bunch in April 2025.
So, not like most of the action fantasy stories where the main character fights monsters or super villains, it begins with introducing a character Nemu the Corpse Carrier, our protagonist whose only job is to recover the bodies of dungeon explorers who die deep inside dungeons.
Furthermore, Volume 3 of the manga was already released on August 7, 2026. The cover was illustrated by the manga’s creator, Tsukamu Yoriwake, which definitely looks worth checking out!
Nemu the Corpse Carrier portrays the darker theme, but somehow it was loved by Frieren creator Kanehito Yamada. She says in a comment released before the latest volume, although the story is about carrying dead bodies, it somehow feels warm and comforting.
It’s not like it was praised by only one iconic mangaka but it was well received by Yoshitoki Oima, the creator of A Silent Voice. Oima feels like Nemu, who is traveling through dangerous dungeons while experiencing grief, will one day return home with a heartwarming story.
Now for the actual story, the plot follows Nemu, a corpse carrier who travels to dangerous places such as deep dungeons, animal lairs, and the bottom of the sea to recover the bodies of people who have long been dead.
Nemu takes these risks because their families want their loved ones to come home, even if they can only return as corpses for final moments.Nemu the Corpse Carrier makes us feel how grief looks like when families are left behind after someone dies.
Moreover, we see for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End which began in Weekly Shonen Sunday in April 2020 and is still ongoing.
The manga has sold more than 35 million copies.And if you are new to the Frieren then the story follows Frieren, a 1,000-year-old elf mage who was once part of a group of heroes that defeated the Demon King. Years later, her human friends have passed away, making Frieren realize that she never truly understood them.
After realising she then begins a new journey with her apprentice Fern and warrior Stark while remembering her old friends throughout the journey.
The popular anime adaptation that was a huge success was produced by Studio Madhouse. Its first two seasons aired from September 2023 to March 2026, while Season 3 is currently in production and is expected to be released in October 2027.
So, Fierens fans note it down and come back for the latest updates on the actual release date.
Finally, coming back to the yet to be popular series, Nemu the Corpse Carrier will be released in English by Seven Seas Entertainment, with Volume 1 coming out on November 10, 2026.
