The Fortnite Pirate Token drop rate is 1 in 137,500 per chest in a normal match, Epic <a href="https://comicvibe.com/5-best-written-ps3-games-ranked/” title=”5 Best-Written PS3 Games, Ranked”>Games revealed on 7 November. That’s a week into the Treasure Hunters mini-season, which has had players opening chests by the thousand to find it. The token grants Pirate Shop Access, which makes just about every cosmetic in the Item Shop free to claim for 14 days. It still isn’t the rarest treasure this season.
Those odds have stayed the same since Treasure Hunters launched on 1 November and don’t shift through the day. The one exception is Treasure Hours, boosted windows on Saturdays that raise the Pirate Token to 1.5x its normal rate. Epic posted the numbers to the Fortnite Status account on X after a week of player complaints, including boycott calls and attempts to report the studio to the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
You asked for info on drop rates, so here’s how it works: The new treasure this season is found in chests just like other items. Treasure drop rates from chests are constant since season launch and don’t vary throughout the day, except during Treasure Hours. Other than Gizmos, you can’t get the same treasure twice. Every time you open a chest in a normal match, here’s how likely you are to find the treasures: • 1:1,562,500 – Weekly Gold Outfit
• 1:137,500 – Pirate Shop Access
• 1:7,813 – Weekly Vehicle & Decal
• 1:568 – Weekly Pickaxe or Backbling
• 1:391 – Weekly Jam Track
• 1:272 – Weekly Loading Screen
• 1:127 – Gizmo (any) During Treasure Hours, including the one earlier today, these treasures have a boosted rate: • Pirate Shop Access: 1.5x
• Weekly Gold Outfit: 7.5x
• Weekly Vehicle & Decal: 10x These rates may be higher in future Treasure Hours. If so, we’ll let you know. For instance, during tonight’s 9-11pm ET Treasure Hour, Pirate Shop Access will be boosted to 2.0x and Weekly Gold Outfit to 10.0x.— Fortnite Status (@FortniteStatus) November 7, 2026
Fortnite Treasure Hunters Drop Rates for Every Treasure
Epic listed the odds for all seven treasures, each measured per chest opened in a normal match. The Weekly Gold Outfit is the hardest to find at 1 in 1,562,500, more than 11 times rarer than the Pirate Token.
| Treasure | Odds per chest (normal match) | Standard Treasure Hour boost |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly Gold Outfit | 1 in 1,562,500 | 7.5x |
| Pirate Shop Access (Pirate Token) | 1 in 137,500 | 1.5x |
| Weekly Vehicle and Decal | 1 in 7,813 | 10x |
| Weekly Pickaxe or Back Bling | 1 in 568 | None announced |
| Weekly Jam Track | 1 in 391 | None announced |
| Weekly Loading Screen | 1 in 272 | None announced |
| Gizmo (any) | 1 in 127 | None announced |
As a percentage, the Pirate Token’s normal rate is roughly 0.00073% per chest. Treasures also don’t repeat. Once you find a treasure, that same one can’t drop for you again, and Gizmos are the only treasure you can collect more than once.
Treasure Hour Boosts and When They Run in New Zealand
At the standard Treasure Hour boosts, the Pirate Token improves from 1 in 137,500 to about 1 in 91,667. The Weekly Gold Outfit moves to about 1 in 208,333, and the Weekly Vehicle and Decal to about 1 in 781.
Epic pushed further for the evening session on 7 November, raising the Pirate Token to 2x and the Weekly Gold Outfit to 10x. Those boosts work out to 1 in 68,750 and 1 in 156,250 respectively. Epic said later Treasure Hours may carry bigger boosts as well, and that it will announce them when they do.
Treasure Hours run on Saturdays, US time, across two windows, and more sessions are expected on 14, 21 and 28 November. The official times convert to these local times:
| Window | Official time (US) | New Zealand (NZDT) | Sydney (AEDT) |
|---|---|---|---|
| First session | 11am to 1pm PT (2pm to 4pm ET), Saturday | 8am to 10am NZDT, Sunday | 6am to 8am AEDT, Sunday |
| Second session | 6pm to 8pm PT (9pm to 11pm ET), Saturday | 3pm to 5pm NZDT, Sunday | 1pm to 3pm AEDT, Sunday |
Because the schedule is built around US Saturdays, players in New Zealand get both boosted windows on Sunday instead: one in the morning and one in the middle of the afternoon.
Boycott Calls, FTC Complaints, and Epic’s Equal-Odds Response
Until the reveal, players had no published number to measure their luck against, and the complaints grew through the week. One player claimed that people who barely play were finding the token on day one while longtime players with more than 3,000 chests opened had nothing, and urged others to “BOYCOTT FORTNITE FOREVER”. Another called the system predatory and deceptive, and some players tried to report Epic to the FTC for not publishing the odds at launch.
Epic answered the fairness claims in a separate X post, saying “every player has an equal opportunity to find Pirate Shop Access” and warning that buying an account or using fake tools is a scam. A few players had guessed the drop rate sat somewhere around 1 in 7,000. The real figure is close to 20 times rarer.
@Pirat_Nation Hey @Pirat_Nation – Buying an account or using fake tools is a scam. This is just like any of the chests in Battle Royale, so every player has an equal opportunity to find Pirate Shop Access.

That gap is the part Epic could have avoided. Publishing the odds on 1 November would have given players the number before they spent a week grinding chests, not after.
What 1 in 137,500 Means Over Thousands of Chests
Each chest is a separate roll, so the odds don’t build up as quickly as a long grind might suggest. At the normal rate, a player who has opened 3,000 chests had only about a 2.2% chance of finding the Pirate Token along the way. A squad that has opened 15,000 between them sits at roughly 10%.
One calculation shared by players assumes a four-player squad where each player opens 35 chests a match. That’s 140 chests per match and roughly a 0.1% chance of a token each game. Reaching even odds of at least one token takes about 95,300 chests, or around 681 matches.
Treasure Hours help, but only so much. At the 2x rate from the 7 November evening session, the same squad reaches even odds after about 47,650 chests, which is still around 340 matches. Epic hasn’t said whether the next Treasure Hours, expected on 14 November, will push the Pirate Token past its standard 1.5x boost.
