Fortnite’s Chapter 7 Season 4 is almost upon us, with the newly titled Override set to arrive on August 20 bringing with it the return of a platforming 00s legend.

Override marks the final season within Chapter 7, likely leading into a mini month-long season later in the year followed by a Chapter 8 launch.

It’s the pattern Fortnite has followed for a while now, coinciding chapter launches with a reveal at The Game Awards.

Hopefully, Override will boost what has, on the whole, been a weak Chapter 7.

The entire chapter has lacked a strong physical identity, switching from a focus on rivalries to sprites without really backdropping this with unique and standout locations.

It’s perhaps a chapter that’s been more mechanics centric than anything else, although that looks set to change with Override which arguably will boast the most promising premise we’ve seen in a long time.

Override is set to be themed entirely around iconic gaming legends, with Sonic The Hedgehog, Persona, Pac-Man, Mega Man, and Kingdom Hearts among the IPs expected to appear.

Pac-Man’s inclusion has already been teased in-game with the character’s musical jingle faintly being played at Wonkeeland.

Fortnite fans, however, now think they’ve spotted a major tease for a character who hasn’t recieved a mainline game in six years, Crash Bandicoot.

All signs point to Crash Bandicoot somehow being included in Fortnite’s next season.

Where to find Fortnite’s Chapter 7 Season 4 Crash Bandicoot tease

Epic Games recently began teasing Unstable, a new live event due to set up the incoming Override season.

Unstable will be held on Saturday August 15 at 11am PT / 2pm ET / 7pm BST and is simply being billed as a “story moment”.

In one clip advertising the event, Twitter/X user Jorge_Most pointed out a possible Crash Bandicoot tease.

“In the official image of the event (which will preview the video game season) what appears to be its crate can be seen, one of the most iconic elements of the saga,” they wrote.

Lo and behold, you can see a small orange crate floating, seemingly boasting the iconic yellow question mark symbol synonymous with the Crash Bandicoot games.

It’s hard to tell you to take this all with a pinch of salt, as there are very few conclusions to draw from this.

Crash Bandicoot certainly wouldn’t be out of place in a gaming legends-themed season, plus he knows all about warping through time, so it wouldn’t be hard to whisk him into Fortnite from a lore point-of-view.

Whether Crash Bandicoot receives a skin, is a visitable NPC, has themed items, or is just referenced

It’s nice to see this platforming icon return though as it was in 2020 that Crash’s last mainline game arrived, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time.

Since then, the character received the live service spin-off Crash Team Rumblebut the less said about that the better.

Hopefully Crash does indeed surface in Fortnite and it leads to a prosperous new era for the character, but this 00s icon deserves better than fading into live service oblivion.
