‘Fast & Furious’ Is Officially Getting That Live

Setting aside for a moment those Universal Studios neighbors suffering earaches from the new Fast & Furious roller coaster, it’s a stellar time for the long-running street-racing franchise. By the power of Vin Diesel, the 11th film in the series, Fast Forever, is back on track, and now that live-action TV show Diesel announced earlier this year is officially a go at Peacock.

Deadline reports Mike Daniels (PONIES) and Wolfe Coleman (911: Lone Star) will write and co-showrun, with Diesel among the executive producers. A 2028 airdate is expected, which means the TV show will arrive in concert with Fast Forever, which is slated to hit theaters March 17, 2028.

There’s no word on the storyline (we have some suggestions on that front); back in May, Diesel hinted the creators were listening to fans who wanted to learn more about “legacy characters” from the 25-year-old franchise. He also suggested that multiple series were in development, though Peacock is only moving forward with one, at least for now.

Fast & Furious has been on the small screen before, albeit in animated form, thanks to the Netflix series Fast & Furious Spy Racers. That ran for six seasons from 2019 to 2021 and starred Tyler Posey as Tony Toretto, the younger cousin of Diesel’s character, Dominic Toretto.
