Disney is not planning to purchase Epic Games — at least not at the moment

    • Epic Games

In the spring, rumors surfaced suggesting that Disney’s leadership would be open to acquiring Epic Games if it ever decided to seek a buyer. Half a year later, Disney’s President and Creative Director Dana Walden partially denied these rumors.

Epic Games came up during an interview with Bloomberg. Responding to a question about a potential acquisition, Walden stated that “right now” the companies are not engaged in such talks. However, she emphasized that Disney is satisfied with its current partnership with Epic Games and plans several joint projects over the next two years.

To recall, in 2024, Disney invested $1.5 billion in Epic Games, acquiring a stake of approximately 7-9% in return.

The companies are also actively collaborating in Fortnite. As a result, the game has frequently featured content inspired by Disney-owned franchises such as “Star Wars,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Toy Story,” and others.
