Disney+ Drops Trailer for ‘The Simpsons’ Exclusive ‘Yellow Mirror’

Third and last of streamer’s exclusive summer episodes riffs on Netflix’s dark-tech anthology in 2 dark tales, with a defective lamp upending Homer’s grip on reality and an AI-powered tablet taking control of Maggie; premieres August 26.

Disney+ has released the official trailer and key art for Yellow Mirror, the third and last of this summer’s three Disney+-exclusive episodes of The Simpsons, ahead of its premiere tomorrow, August 26.

If not obvious, the title riffs on Black Mirror, Netflix’s anthology of dark technology tales. In typical The Simpsons fashion, the episode follows suit with two stories of the curious and bizarre: a defective lamp reveals a heartbreaking truth about what Homer believes is reality, while an AI-powered tablet befriends and controls Maggie… The Simpsons struggle to find the light through both.

Disney+ set the summer slate back in June: the double episode Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition streamed June 17, with guest star Betty Gilpin and musical guests Laufey and Tegan and Sara; the noir-flavored Simpsley followed July 3, sending con artist Marge Bouvier to Italy after a wealthy Seymour Skinner. Yellow Mirror closes the run.

The exclusives continue a line that began with the Plusaversary short in 2021 and most recently produced Yellow Planet, the April 2025 nature mockumentary that reimagined the family as animals, along with the December 2024 holiday double episode.

Now in production on its 38th season, The Simpsons is a Gracie Films production in association with 20th Television Animation. Created by Matt Groening and developed by James L. Brooks, Groening and Sam Simon, the series is executive produced by Brooks, Groening and showrunner Matt Selman. The show has won 37 Emmy Awards and 35 Annie Awards, and was the first animated series to win a Peabody Award.

Yellow Mirror premieres August 26, exclusively on Disney+.
