Dhanush and Mammootty’s much-awaited collaboration OM – Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood has got a new release date. The action drama is set to arrive in theatres later this year.

Dhanush’s long-awaited film with Mammootty, OM – Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood, has locked a new theatrical release date. The action drama was originally scheduled to open in theaters on October 16, 2026, and the new global release date is now November 20, 2026. The makers announced the revised date through social media along with a new poster featuring the two lead actors.

The film was earlier slated to release on October 16, a day after Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2. Earlier, Dhanush had confirmed that the team was postponing the film to avoid the clash.
The actor-producer also said that OM will not come out during the Diwali week as Suriya’s Scene has already locked the date on November 6. “We didn’t want to clash with the other big films that are coming out on the dates already announced.
Now the film has been pushed back more than a month from its original date, with November 20 locked in.

Dhanush and Mammootty share screen
OM – Chapter 1, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, who previously directed Amaran, is the first time Dhanush and Mammootty have come together.
Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela and Naseeruddin Shah are also part of the cast in key roles. The film is in development as the first chapter of a two-part franchise.
The newly unveiled poster sees Dhanush and Mammootty standing with guns, together and it gives us a glimpse of intense action-oriented world of the film.
OM – Chapter 1 What is OM?
OM – Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood is an action drama movie based on the forest. The story is about a man who comes forward to protect woodcutters arrested by the police, with the forest at the center of the conflict.
It is a big scale action film with an ensemble cast and the combination of Dhanush and Mammootty is expected to be one of the major highlights.
The film’s songs and background score are composed by Sai Abhyankkar. The cinematography is done by Ezhil Arasu K and the editing is done by R Kalaivanan.
The technical team also consists of A. Pannerselvam as art director while action choreography is by Yannick Ben and Kecha Khamphakdee.
The film is also being produced by Dhanush along with Shraddha Agrawal and Azmat Jagmag, and the project is bankrolled by RTake Studios.
Dhanush, Mammootty’s upcoming projects
Dhanush has a lot of work lined up post OM. He will team up with director Tamizharasan Pachamuthu for the action entertainer D56, which is tentatively titled and will be released in Summer 2027. Vadivelu and SJ Suryah are also joining the cast, while Preity Mukundhan is said to be the female lead.
Dhanush also announced Thamizh Murugan, directed by Vetrimaaran.
Meanwhile, Mammootty has several projects in different stages. He is likely to team up again with filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan for Padayaatra and is also busy with Mela, being directed by Nithish Sahadev. Mattancherry Mafia, directed by Khalid Rahman, is also on his next slate.
