Scholastic is celebrating a decade of Dog Man — and hey, that’s seventy years in dog years! That’s right, it’s somehow been ten human years since Dav Pilkey‘s original Dog Man graphic novel was published in 2016, and the intervening decade wouldn’t have been the same otherwise.
In addition to the publication of the fifteenth Dog Man graphic novel, Dog Man: A Sprinkle in Time, on August 3rd, 2026, you can also host your own “Bark to School” events, and Pilkey will also be undertaking a ten city tour in November and December 2026… Plus, a new series, Dog Man Dynamite, has been announced. Dog Man!
A Decade of Dog Man
Here’s the description of Dog Man Dynamite from Scholastic:
“Dog Man Dynamite, a new and interactive book that brings together the wildly imaginative worlds created by Pilkey, launches on August 3rd, 2027 with a second title to follow in January 2028. Written and illustrated by Pilkey, each collectible 48-page action-packed adventure invites kids to experience their favorite characters in an immersive new way with original comics, games, puzzles, jokes, surprises, and exclusive sneak peeks from upcoming books. Each paperback edition will include Pilkey-designed retro 3-D glasses that brings the action to life. Featuring beloved characters and stories from the Dog Man, Captain Underpants, and Cat Kid Comic Club series, this hands-on innovative reading experience will keep kids engaged and turning the page.
In a quote included in the press release, Pilkey stated, “The inspiration for Dog Man Dynamite came from my own childhood and a nod to the Dynamite magazines I loved as a kid. I wanted to create more fun reading material that can help expand kids’ vocabulary and critical thinking skills. My hope is that Dog Man Dynamite will get kids excited about books and reading without even realizing it.”

And in November and December — timed to the release of A Sprinkle in Time — Pilkey will be embarking on a ten city tour that will “transform each stop into an immersive Dog Man celebration, where kids and families can come dressed as their favorite book characters, meet Dog Man and Captain Underpants, and snap photos with the beloved costume characters.
