Dakota Johnson is tired of people all up in her social network.
After the Fifty Shades of Greyalum was seen on a stroll with Machine Gun Kelly nearly one month after multiple outlets reported her breakup from Role Model, she shared insight into why she doesn’t care to set the record straight on her love life.
“Even if I go to dinner with my manager or my lawyer, it’s like, ‘Seen with mystery man.’ I also don’t care,” Johnson said on the Sept. 25 episode of Vogue‘s The Run-Through podcast, stressing that she’s not interested in correcting false narratives about her personal life. “I think it’s just futile.”
“People are gonna believe what they wanna believe, and I don’t have the energy to fight for that,” she added. “I would much rather focus on other things in my life. Every day, there’s something on the internet that’s ridiculous and true or not true, and I don’t care.”
Rather, she encouraged those who take a particular interest in her relationships to “get a life.”
And as the rumor mill continues to circulate, the 36-year-old wants no part in it, revealing she’s taking an intentional step back from social media.

“Maybe when I was in my younger 20s, I had a moment of being on social media just for fun and laughs ’cause I love a clever thing,” she said. “But, I just don’t f–k with it.”
She added, “I feel really uncomfortable with the constant documenting of people’s lives.”
Johnson turned heads after she hit the town with MGK earlier this month, where the pair was seen stepping out of a black SUV in New York City together, as seen photos obtained by TMZ.
And while the outing came weeks after she and Role Model (real name Tucker Pillsbury) broke up, Johnson—who previously dated Chris Martin—recently admitted she has a type when it comes to musicians.
Despite initially telling Vogue in an interview published Sept. 18, “I don’t want to say anything about that” when asked about the current status of her love life, Johnson didadmit that the guys who seem to go for The Social Networkstar know their way around a mic.
“They like me,” she quipped. “I don’t know what to say.”
After waiting a beat, Johnson added, “And I like them.”
When the interviewer then asked, “What’s not to like?” Johnson followed it up with an even cheekier comment.
“A lot! A lot,” she said with a laugh. “Tricky motherf–kers.”
