Cyberpunk 2077 has another epic fan-made mode, which is as good as you’ll get in terms of new content.
CD Projekt Red has long-since moved on from the title for greener pastures; namely The Witcher IV.
Many are hoping it’ll return to Night City with a new expansion. Something akin to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Songs of the PastDLC would be nice, but don’t hold your breath.
Those looking for a brand-new way to experience the game though should look no further than a new VR mode, which has been described as “phenomenal” by those who’ve played it.
It was created and uploaded by dariulone to NexusMods, and is simply titled cyberpunk-vr-port. Why overcomplicate things?
The mod is several months in the making and does exactly what it says on the tin; allows you to explore the wonders of Night City with your own eyes.
BadHostile shared some gameplay on X and praised it extensively. They said: “Cyberpunk 2077 VR Mod 0.1.1 update is now available (and it’s phenomenal)!”
They continued: “The latest version of the mod is finally fully playable, allows free combat and aiming, and also adds native stereo rendering … Finally, you can play Cyberpunk 2077 in its best possible form – in glorious VR, with full motion controls.”
Free-aiming your futuristic weapons is a blast of course, but the real fun comes when you get to the long list of melee weapons. Being able to physically swish your arms around for Mantis Blade attacks is awesome, as is swinging around one of the many katanas you’ll find throughout the city.
It’s still got that classic clunkiness you’d expect from a VR game, but to say dariulone’s mod is a fan-made expansion it’s extremely high quality.

The only gameplay we’d probably question is the driving. Even the base game’s driving wasn’t as smooth and enjoyable as that of Grand Theft Auto Vfor instance, so in VR it must be a nightmare…
Unfortunately dariulone’s gameplay footage didn’t show them cruising around the city so if you’re brave enough to give it a go for yourself you’re more than welcome to.
All in all though, this Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod is utterly magnificent. You could easily mistake it for an official CD Projekt Red update and who knows, perhaps it’ll make an official VR mode one day. It’s unlikely, but let a gamer dream.
CD Projekt Red’s next projects
Obviously the next big thing for CD Projekt Red is The Witcher IV, but before we get there we have one last hurrah coming for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Also in the early planning phases is the next Cyberpunk game, which is currently known internally as Cyberpunk 2 until an official title has been selected.
This means you’re going to be waiting a long time for a new Cyberpunk game, but in the meantime you can enjoy Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2, which comes out later this year.
