Collectibles Culture: Live Selling Dominates Booth Trends at NYCC

Fast-paced, livestreamed shopping was one of the most pervasive trends spotted on the show floor at the 20th annual New York Comic Con (Oct. 8-11 at the Javits Ceter), and all of the action took place right inside the exhibits.

The QVC-style broadcasts included sophisticated cameras and lighting, live hosts, and screens within the footprint that allowed attendees to watch (or join) the live selling and trading of collectibles. Here’s a glimpse of the strategy at work:

Whatnot is a live shopping marketplace, so it only made sense that the platform was brought to life inside its NYCC exhibit.

Within the mall-themed space, Whatnot’s sellers got the chance to sell live, right from the show floor, even if they didn’t have a standalone booth at the event.

Viewers at home could bid and buy in real time, while attendees could watch the real-time action from an arcade-themed vignette. Meanwhile, a smaller auction booth was embedded within one of the brand’s “stores.”

Walmart was laser-focused on collectibles at NYCC, both in-booth and online. The brand <a href="https://corporate.walmart.com/news/2026/10/collectibles-experience-at-new-york-comic-con” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>hosted 25 livestreams across the four-day convention inside a glass-walled structure, with fans tuning in for exclusive <a href="https://comicvibe.com/xbox-launches-labs-group-to-explore-new-gaming-technology/” title=”Xbox launches Labs group to explore new gaming technology”>launches, interviews, unboxings and shoppable items.

In a similar strategy to Whatnot, eBay Live rolled its branded Airstream trailer into its exhibit.

Inside, a series of seller partners wheeled and dealed with fans online all four days of the event, as people within the booth watched the auctions from dedicated rows of seating. We also witnessed fans face off in rounds of BINGO to score “rare drops.”

And a large chunk of TikTok Shop’scarnival-themed footprint (Coney Island was the overall NYCC 2026 theme) was dedicated to a high-tech broadcast stage where live sellers traded throughout the show. The space also encompassed a series of smaller “livestream pods.”
