His face was turning scarlet! Pop Culture Jeopardy! host Colin Jost jokingly scolded an audience member when they asked him a question about his wife, Scarlett Johansson.
“@ColinJost is still working on pronouncing his wife’s last name. #PopCultureJeopardy!” the Instagram post shared on July 19 was captioned.
“How do you pronounce your wife’s last name?” the audience member asked. “Is it Jo-hannson or Yo-hannson?”
Jost cracked up, slapped his knees, and wiped a fake tear. When he composed himself, he joked, “I don’t know. I’ve never met her in person yet. So, I want to hear how she says it.”
“Jo-hansson. I certainly say Johansson. I mean, I don’t say it really ever, but…” He pretended to talk to his wife and say, “Yo, Johansson! Why is the fridge empty?” This caused the audience to crack up.
The Saturday Night Live cast member went on to explain that his wife is Danish. “Her family went back a little bit between Denmark and Sweden, so it was Yo-hansson,” he explained. “Yo-hanson, probably originally.”
“And I was probably Yo-st in Germany, but now that’s all long forgotten, so we all changed together. All ancestors coordinated, and said, ‘Let’s get them together,’” Jost explained.
After his explanation, the audience member who had asked about Scarlett Johansson blurted out, “Are you still friends with Michael Che?” Jost does Weekend Update with Che on SNL.
Jost and Johansson got married in 2020. The two started dating in May 2017 after she appeared on SNL. They share one child — a son named Cosmo — who was born in August 2021. Johansson shares one daughter, Rose, with her ex-husband Romain Dauriac.

“I didn’t say you could have a second question,” Jost scolded with a smile. The audience laughed, and the host’s smile grew wider.
Fans reacted to the interaction in the comments. “It was originally pronounced yeopardy,” one joked.
“Every time he sees her, he should be like ‘omg! You’re Scarlett Johansson!’” another wrote.
“More of this, please,” a third added.
“Dear God, he is absolutely hilarious and is perfect for Pop Culture Jeopardy!,” a fan wrote.
“‘I didn’t say you could have a second question.’ Fantastic little bit,” an Instagram user said.
“He freaking kills me,” another said with a laughing emoji.
