- The second annual Jewish Culture Festival will take place in Hyannis on Sunday, August 9.

Share kosher pickles and laughs with “Pickle Guy” Mendy Margolin; listen to the music of the Shlock Rock band and learn about Jewish traditions, like crafting a shofar, at this year’s Jewish Culture Festival.
The festival will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at Chabad Lubavitch of Cape Cod, 745 West Main St., Hyannis.
Tickets are $20 online at capecodjcf.com or $25 at the door. Kids under 12 are $10. A $100 VIP ticket includes food for one and a commemorative shirt.
There is free parking at Barnstable High School, and handicap parking at the radio station next door to the festival.
This is the second annual Jewish Culture Festival.
“Three hundred people joined us last summer, many of them tasting kosher deli or hearing Jewish music for the first time,” festival organizer Rabbi Kuti Alperowitz, director of Chabad Lubavitch of Cape Cod, said in a community announcement.
“That response told us Cape Cod wanted more, so this year we added more entertainment, new food options and hands-on workshops. Everyone is welcome.”
Music at the Jewish Culture Festival in Hyannis
Headlining this year is Shlock Rock, an American-Israeli band founded in 1986 by Lenny Solomon. Schlock Rock plays Jewish classics and humorous parodies.
Also playing is The Steve Siagel Band performing Israeli folk music.
New York foods at Hyannis festival
Expect authentic New York deli food, including overstuffed kosher deli sandwiches and falafel, from Nati Abakasis of Mendy’s Kosher Deli in New York City. New this year is an interactive kosher pickle workshop with Mendy Margolin.
What else is there to do at the Cape Cod Jewish Culture Festival?
There will be inflatables and crafts for kids of all ages. Local artists and vendors will display Jewish and Cape Cod-inspired art, jewelry, crafts, Judaica and specialty goods.
