Batman is teaming up with one of Japan’s most iconic superheroes.
As part of its Batman Day 2026 celebrations, DC has announcedBatman x Kamen Rider ZERO-ONE LEGENDS UNITE, a new collaboration bringing the Dark Knight together with Kamen Rider Zero-One. The project will begin with an original DC comic, with Bandai also developing merchandise tied to the crossover.
The comic will be with artwork by Japanese artist and illustrator Tokitokoro. The collaboration brings together Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, DC, Toei, and Bandai, with merchandise planned for Japan and international markets including North America
Porter also confirmed his involvement following the announcement, sharing the news on social media.
The pairing has an interesting connection beyond bringing together American comics and Japanese tokusatsu. Bruce Wayne operates Wayne Enterprises, while Kamen Rider Zero-One’s civilian identity, Aruto Hiden, is the young president of the artificial intelligence company Hiden Intelligence. Zero-One debuted in 2019 as the first Kamen Rider series of Japan’s Reiwa era.
The project was officially unveiled during the “Rule the Night” Batman Day fan event in Tokyo on September 19. New collaboration artwork showing Batman alongside Zero-One was created by tokitokoro for the event, though reports note that the image is separate from the artwork that will appear in the comic.
The crossover also arrives during Kamen Rider’s 55th anniversary. Toei producer Shinichiro Shirakura called the team-up a historic moment, pointing back to the original 1971 Kamen Rider, whose earliest enemies included both a spider-themed and bat-themed monster.
For now, DC is keeping much of the project under wraps. A release date, story details, format, and issue count have yet to be announced. More information about the comic and Bandai’s merchandise is expected to be revealed gradually, with Tokyo Comic Con among the places where additional updates could surface.
Batman Day itself was celebrated globally on September 19, with DC’s Batman of Two Worlds serving as the centerpiece of this year’s publishing festivities.
