‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Hype Leads to Doctor Doom Collectible’s Record-Breaking Sale
    • A 2025 Topps Chrome Marvel Mint Superfractor Doctor Doom card sold for a record-breaking $30,300, making it the most expensive Doctor Doom card ever sold at auction.
    • The card is classified as a Pop 1 due to its Mint condition and PSA 9 rating, and is currently the most valuable card in the 2025 Tops Chrome Marvel Mint collection.
    • The increase in value of Doctor Doom cards, such as a 1990 Marvel Universe card selling for $956.95 in 2026 compared to $15.50 in 2020, demonstrates the direct correlation between cultural relevance and collectible value.

“Avengers Endgame: Encore” has hit theaters as Marvel Studios builds steam toward December 18’s monumental “Avengers: Doomsday.”

Doctor Doom, the primary antagonist of the film, has been on the tips of every Marvel fan’s tongues ever since the movie was announced over two years ago. The hype surrounding the fictional ruler of Latveria has now led to a record-breaking sale involving one of his cards.

Fanatics Collect has revealed that the 2025 Topps Chrome Marvel Mint Superfractor Doctor Doom has sold on their website for a whopping $30,300 this past week. This is the most expensive Doctor Doom card that has ever been sold at auction.

It’s been classified as a Pop 1 due to the card’s Mint condition and PSA 9 rating being the only current card in existence.

Released as a part of the 2025 Tops Chrome Marvel Mint collection, this card is currently the most valuable of the collection. According to PriceCharting, the only other card that holds a candle to this Doom’s flame is the Red Foil Platinum Wolverine #102, which, when ungraded, has a reported value of $7,500.

What Other Doctor Doom Cards Have Sold at Auction?

The 2013 Marvel Fleer Retro #37 Doctor Doom Precious Metal Gems (PMG) Green sold for $20,700 on February 25, 2026. It was graded a PSA 8.

It was actually from this same collection that the most expensive Marvel trading card ever sold was recorded.

The 2013 Fleer Retro Marvel PMG Green Spider-Man sold at a Goldin auction for $168,000 in May 2022. The reasoning behind this set being as valuable as it is can be attributed to the 2013 Fleer Retro, which introduced modern collectors to the ‘PMG’ craze.

As we inch closer to Doomsday’s release, more collectibles featuring the Fantastic Four’s foil are beginning to surface.

This past August, a 2024 Topps Chrome Marvel Sapphire Edition Doctor Doom graded Gem Mint PSA 10 sold for $20,000.

The increase in value for Doom’s cards has also seen exponential spikes. In March 2020, the 1990 Marvel Universe Doctor Doom Gem Mint PSA 10 card sold for merely $15.50. Fast-forward to August 24, 2026, and it sold for $956.95. This is nearly a 6,300% increase in value.

Granted, this percentage increase isn’t applicable to all cards. But it goes to show that cultural relevance is directly proportional to increases in value, and no <a href="https://comicvibe.com/box-office-rebound-this-year-has-industry-optimism-booming/” title=”Box office rebound this year has industry optimism booming”>industry is more prone to proving this over and over again than the realm of collectibles.
