Why bother racing? Car racing is essentially a sport. And it’s also entertainment. But it also serves as an engineering exercise, adjusting the balance of these three elements to varying degrees in each race series. Engineering is why companies like Bosch are involved. “We get technology from the Bosch side and use it in everyday vehicle engineering,” said Joe Capuano, regional president of Bosch Engineering. “We can bring these components to the race track in different ways, where obviously the requirements are different. It’s really a learning loop, where we can take the base components, apply them in different ways…

In 2021, the world lost Betty White. This beloved actress passed away in her sleep at the age of 99. Shortly after White’s death, her friend and colleague Jamie Lee Curtis came up with a heartwarming way to honor the actress. During the spotlight panel at New York Comic Con 2022, Jamie Lee Curtis said, “Betty White passed away. I was making a movie with her called You Again, and it was such a lovely movie that they asked me to do it. She was an animal rights activist, so I told them, I was like, ‘Look, if I can…

The company’s stock market debut comes amid an industry-wide slowdown in consumer VR investment and spending on first-party content. news Founded in 2013 by CEO Jan Goetgeluk, Virtuix originally launched on Kickstarter with the launch of the original Omni, raising $1.1 million from backers. Although the company initially started with clear ambitions to enter the consumer market, market realities forced the company to enter the outdoor VR attraction space, forcing a major shift in business strategy. Since then, the…
Video game development is a race against time. Studios are racing against deadlines, rushing to hit milestones and complete features in order to stay on time (and on budget) for their next game’s release date. Sometimes staff lose the fight and delays become unavoidable. It’s not necessarily a sign of defeat. For Mio: Memories in Orbit developer Douze Dixièmes, it was practically divine intervention. “To be honest, we’re a little late,” Douze Dixièmes co-founder Sarah Hourcade told Polygon in a video interview ahead of Mio’s January 20 launch. “This is the second release date we have discussed with the publisher.…
Most of us have asked our parents for advice at some point. Scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis, best known for her role as Laurie Strode in the Halloween series, is no exception. But her words of parental wisdom come from two stars, Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh. Decades before Jamie Lee Curtis took on Michael Myers in Halloween, her mother Janet Leigh was the victim of the infamous shower in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. Tony Curtis was one of Hollywood’s first “pretty boys.” Think of it like Brad Pitt before Brad Pitt was born. Although her parents had immense star power,…
Originally released in July 2021, Death’s Door is an isometric action-adventure game that proudly wears its Legend of Zelda influences. You play as a voiceless little man, actually a crow, on an adventure wielding a sword and bow to save the land from an evil threat. But Death’s Door combines the atmosphere of Soulsborne with challenging combat, dark humor, an appealing art style and complementary music to make it a complex and engaging experience. After four full years, Xbox Game Pass will be shutting down at the end of January. That means you only have a few days to play…
The Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update added a number of new items, most notably the construction of cat cafes, which sparked an incredibly adorable design trend among players. At the center of everything is a stuffed cat, which comes in a variety of color swatches, including an orange tabby and a calico cat, giving players a variety of cats to play with (an anthropomorphic cat may even live in your town). A stuffed cat is one of the items included in the new dockside hotel. Once you complete the four hotel rooms, the stuffed cat will be available for…
Mighty Coconut, the indie studio behind Walkabout Mini Golf (2020), has announced that it will be cutting its workforce by 25%, in addition to increasing the prices of future DLC to offset costs. Might Coconut founder Lucas Martell published a blog post outlining some of the challenges the studio faces in the admittedly “difficult” VR game development environment. After layoffs that affected a quarter of the studio, Martel said the remaining team at Mighty Coconuts is now 27 people, which will allow the studio to “continue to expand the game for the foreseeable future.” Walkabout Mini Golf fans have come…
Now that the Bravado has officially docked, we finally have answers. Nathan is the boss, Gale is the mother, and Joe… is still the “shit guy.” Photo: Bravo When we embarked on Bravado, the main question driving the season was whether Nathan could put together a game as the boss. And “Who’s Pregnant?” Other questions about the stability of the deck team piled up like Jenga blocks as the season began. Will Tess and Christian try hard enough to keep their jobs? (No.) Who will take their place when they leave? (V and Joe, with disastrous results.) Will Nathan be…
