The Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update added a number of new items, most notably the construction of cat cafes, which sparked an incredibly adorable design trend among players. At the center of everything is a stuffed cat, which comes in a variety of color swatches, including an orange tabby and a calico cat, giving players a variety of cats to play with (an anthropomorphic cat may even live in your town). A stuffed cat is one of the items included in the new dockside hotel. Once you complete the four hotel rooms, the stuffed cat will be available for…
Mighty Coconut, the indie studio behind Walkabout Mini Golf (2020), has announced that it will be cutting its workforce by 25%, in addition to increasing the prices of future DLC to offset costs. Might Coconut founder Lucas Martell published a blog post outlining some of the challenges the studio faces in the admittedly “difficult” VR game development environment. After layoffs that affected a quarter of the studio, Martel said the remaining team at Mighty Coconuts is now 27 people, which will allow the studio to “continue to expand the game for the foreseeable future.” Walkabout Mini Golf fans have come…
Now that the Bravado has officially docked, we finally have answers. Nathan is the boss, Gale is the mother, and Joe… is still the “shit guy.” Photo: Bravo When we embarked on Bravado, the main question driving the season was whether Nathan could put together a game as the boss. And “Who’s Pregnant?” Other questions about the stability of the deck team piled up like Jenga blocks as the season began. Will Tess and Christian try hard enough to keep their jobs? (No.) Who will take their place when they leave? (V and Joe, with disastrous results.) Will Nathan be…
Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man show depicts how difficult it is to make a career in Hollywood. As you might expect, the Disney+ series is a meta-examination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So it’s no surprise that Destin Daniel Cretton, director and creator of the Wonder Man series, would take us behind the scenes of the upcoming MCU show. Destin Daniel Cretton shared two new videos on his Instagram that he shot for his 8-year-old’s progress day at school. In the first video, Cretton arrives on set at Vasquez Rocks Natural Area and Nature Center in Los Angeles. This filming location…
It’s official – people are crazy about Knights of the Seven Kingdoms. The latest Game of Thrones spin-off, based on a series of novellas written by George R.R. Martin, has received rave reviews, especially from my friends at the Popverse Gang. The problem, however, is that if this series were based on a novella, it would end after three seasons, no matter how beloved it was by HBO viewers. Unless of course someone has an idea how to keep it going. Fittingly, that person appears to be Martin himself, and according to an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he has…
The line between fan and more is a good one, and it’s clear how great the space is (and what that “above” even means) that Something Is Killing the Children and exquisite corpse studio Tiny Onion’s latest project, launching this April, explores. The first issue also launched the manga writing career of acclaimed letterer Aditya Vidhikaru. Bidikar will be joined by Som, an up-and-coming artist in the body horror comic series In Your Skin, who will be handling writing and lettering for the series (the latter includes a new font designed purely for comics). This is his debut as a…
Sureshot joins Hasbro’s Transformers Age of the Primes as a deluxe figure, a modern update of the vintage 1987 release. He comes in colors that are true to the classic 1980s toy, compared to the slightly darker tones seen in the Transformers Generation One cartoon. Sureshot includes the Targetmaser Spoilsport, which transforms from a double barrel blaster to a robot in two stages. Thank you to Entertainment Earth for sending me the Hasbro Transformers: Age of the Prime Deluxe Class Targetmaster Sureshot figure for review. Entertainment Earth offers free shipping on orders over $79 including the one-time coupon code EARTH10.…
That’s the hallmark of a truly great fantasy series. Growth never stops. Indeed, Critical Role shows no signs of scaling back, with two animated series, multiple spin-off comics, and even an all-new non-Exandrian setting in Campaign 4. As you may remember from Popverse recently, the popular D&D Actual Play series is expanding within its own organization, with a focus on bringing new faces to the table beyond its core initial cast. And now it looks like the show is putting its money where its mouth is, tagging three brand new Campaign 4 players to represent the show at this year’s…
Tony Award-nominated animation legend Roger Allers, best known for co-directing Disney’s 1994 animated hit The Lion King and co-writing the hit Broadway musical, passed away last Saturday (January 17, 2026) at his home in Santa Monica, California. He was 76 years old. The exact cause of death has not yet been determined. He is survived by his husband, Genaro Pereira, and two children, actress and director Leah Allers and son Aidan Allers. Allers played a key role in defining the Disney animation renaissance of the ’80s and ’90s with his directorial, story and creative contributions to films such as The…
If there’s one thing the success of Avengers: Endgame and the excitement for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday shows, it’s that fans still love a good old Marvel team-up. This lesson is not lost on Marvel Comics or writer Chip Zdarsky. Chip Zdarsky promises that this summer’s Avengers: Armageddon storyline will feature the comic book Marvel Universe coming together for the first time in a while. “There’s an isolation between the X-Men and the Avengers and, for example, Spider-Man. We want to avoid that a little bit, and we want these characters to interact more,” Zdarsky revealed in an interview on…
